Position Overview

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Development Associate to join our team at Inn from the Cold. The Development Associate will work alongside the Fund Development team to help grow Inn from the Cold’s giving program while strengthening long-term donor relationships and deepening donor engagement.

 

This is a forward-facing administrative role on the Fund Development team directly working towards reaching the team’s strategic fundraising goals. You must be comfortable and confident with phone conversations, emails, and in-person meetings. Success will be achieved by implementing and overseeing appropriate solicitation and stewardship actions required for each level and type of gift.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Manage processes for identification, cultivation, and stewardship of past and current donors
  • Develop and manage relationships with current and prospective donors
  • Identify best practices for stewardship
  • Implement a comprehensive annual plan for the stewardship of all donors
  • Collaborate with the Manager, Fund Development to enhance donor recognition and experience
  • Record donor interactions and stewardship actions in NXT and keep donor records up to date
  • Prepare personal thank you letters for signature by executives, board members, and key volunteers
  • Complete all annual donor impact reports
  • Collaborate with the Communications Team around all fundraising collateral
  • Develop new avenues of revenue and Gift in Kind donations through prospecting
  • Support all fundraising events, meetings, town halls, and team-building activities
  • Attend external events and act as a Brand Ambassador for The Inn
  • Data entry, proofreading, photocopying, and filing as required.

 

This position description reflects the general duties of the role but is not intended to include all duties that may be inherent in the position. The Development Associate may be asked to perform other duties as required or assigned.

 

What You Bring to Our Mission

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Business Administration or Non-profit Management
  • 1-3 years relevant experience in a similar role with a non-profit, sales experience may be considered
  • Job-related experience with NXT or other similar databases and high proficiency knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills with a high degree of professionalism
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment; fast learner and ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work, and independently manage multiple, diverse, and competing priorities while meeting deadlines
  • Ability to exercise good judgment with minimal supervision
  • Extraordinary commitment to maintain confidentiality and discretion
  • Must have high attention to detail and precise accuracy
  • Access to a vehicle and updated driver's license is an asset, as there are times that pick-ups and donor visits are required
  • Complete all assigned INN training
  • Police check and Child Intervention checks are required for employment
