Description

Hospice Calgary has been guiding children, teens, and adults through the grieving process as they face advanced illness and death of a loved one for over 30 years. Our team of professionals provide individual, family and group support as well as 24-hour end-of-life care. We promise to have the difficult conversations about death, dying, and grief while hearing everyone’s unique story and responding with compassion.

The Living with Advanced Illness Centre (LAIC) is one of Hospice Calgary’s three centres of care. The LAIC team provides community-based counselling and support to those faced with advanced illness and grief. As demographics in Alberta change and the population ages, there is a greater need to support people with advanced illness live life to the fullest in their homes and community for as long as they are able. 

We are seeking a Clinical Social Work leader to lead this important community program.

The Ideal Candidate:

Is Passionate About Community-Based Mental Health Care – They understand emotional support is just as vital as physical care when dealing with advanced illness. Is an integral part of continuing to build growth while helping to make a real difference in people’s lives.

Is an Experienced Clinician With extensive experience (minimum 5 years) providing supervision and training as well as providing assessment, intervention, and support to front-line practitioners. Has knowledge to access, implement, and evaluate a wide range of clinical care interventions to ensure the delivery of safe, ethical, and quality care. Is a critical thinker that enjoys leading through challenges.

You are an exceptional communicator who thrives within a consensus decision making model. You support your team, bringing energy, empathy, and enthusiasm to everything they do.

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Counselling with registration from professional college/association is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a health care setting in a clinical or management capacity is required. Preference for clinical experience and knowledge of advanced illnesses, end-of-life, grief, and trauma informed care.
  • Experience in, and an understanding of Alberta’s health care system and community services.
