POSITION TITLE: Director of Engagement and Impact

KEY SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES AND SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES
Philanthropy Strategy Development:
• Lead the design and implementation of a robust and diversified fundraising strategy, including individual giving, major gifts, corporate partnerships, foundation grants, events, and planned giving.
• Identify, cultivate, and steward major gift donors and high-potential prospects through personalized engagement plans.
• Oversee the development of annual fundraising targets, ensuring alignment with the charity's operational and programmatic goals.
• Track fundraising progress, analyze results, and adjust strategies as needed to meet and exceed goals.
Donor and Community Engagement:
• Build and maintain long-term relationships with donors, supporters, and partners, ensuring ongoing engagement and stewardship.
• Oversee the donor recognition program and ensure donors receive appropriate recognition for their contributions.
• Coordinate and lead efforts for donor communications, including impact reports, thank-you letters, newsletters, and personalized updates.
• Represent the organization at community events, conferences, and other public forums to increase visibility and foster goodwill.
• Work collaboratively with program staff to communicate the organization's impact and success stories to current and prospective donors.
Leadership & Team Management:
• Lead and manage a team of fundraising, communications, and impact professionals, including development staff, grants specialists, stewardship and events staff, communications and marketing specialists, and data and evaluation analysts, ensuring high performance and professional growth.
• Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to team members, fostering a collaborative and motivated work environment.
• Oversee the development and execution of fundraising, marketing, and stewardship events and initiatives, ensuring they align with the organization’s mission and values.
Partnership Development & Corporate Relations:
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with corporate and community partners, securing sponsorships, workplace giving programs, and collaborative funding opportunities.
• Partner with local businesses, government bodies, foundations, and community organizations to develop new revenue streams and partnerships.
Financial Oversight & Budgeting:
• Manage the development and execution of the annual fundraising and marketing budget, ensuring resources are appropriately allocated and financial targets are met.
• Ensure that financial records related to donations, grants, and fundraising events are accurate and compliant with relevant regulations.
Advocacy and Public Relations:
• Advocate for the organization’s mission and programs within the philanthropic and public sectors to raise awareness of its impact on community mental health care and supportive housing.
• Collaborate with the marketing and communications team to enhance the organization’s public image, particularly in relation to fundraising campaigns and donor engagement.
Compliance & Reporting:
• Ensure that all fundraising activities comply with legal requirements, including privacy laws, financial reporting, and charitable giving guidelines.
• Prepare and present reports on fundraising progress, goals, and outcomes to the Board of Directors and key stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Education & Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Social Work, Communications).
• Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or management role.
• Proven track record of successfully leading major fundraising campaigns and securing large gifts.
• Minimum of 3 years leading and supervising a high performing team of direct reports
• Experience working with community-based organizations, particularly in the mental health or housing sectors, is highly desirable.
Skills & Competencies:
• Strong understanding of philanthropy, donor engagement, and best practices in fundraising.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively articulate the organization’s mission and impact to a variety of stakeholders.
• Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage and inspire donors, volunteers, board members, and staff.
• Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to oversee multiple initiatives simultaneously.
• Knowledge of CRM systems, donor databases, and fundraising software (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce).
• Familiarity with compliance and regulations governing charitable fundraising and donor stewardship.
