The Calgary Food Bank is the first line of emergency food support for families and individuals facing crisis. As the city’s main charitable food hub and the most accessible food bank we have the capacity to serve families, individuals, and organizations to fight hunger. Our Logistics and Inventory team was responsible for receiving, handling, and distributing 10.8 million pounds of food last year!
We are currently recruiting a community-minded, team-oriented individual to join our Client Services department as Emergency Food Hamper Program Coordinator. At the Calgary Food Bank, Emergency Food Hamper Program Coordinator is responsible for supporting the growth of the Emergency Food Hamper. This includes support of programs within the food hamper department including program planning and reporting, agency communication and onboarding, scheduling of specific programs, and support of the food hamper call center. The EFH Program Coordinator is responsible for program development and quality control within an assigned field of expertise.
We are not your typical warehouse! We work with up to 160 volunteers per day. Volunteers answer our emergency food hamper request line, sort donations, build and distribute hampers, and deliver food just to name a few of the 25 volunteer roles. A key responsibility of this position will be supporting and providing leadership to our incredible volunteers.
Primary responsibilities:
- The EFH Program Coordinator will be expected sit in the Call Center and support call center staff and volunteer throughout the day with questions about EFH programs and schedules
- The EFH Program Coordinator manages key program schedules
- The EFH Program Coordinator supports key EFH projects for EFH growth
- The EFH Program Coordinator will manage the onboarding and communication with external agencies in regards to EFH program needs and updates
Tasks performed:
- Call Center Support
- Oversee Call Center Volunteers, providing support, training & feedback
- Train volunteers in their role to be prepared for client calls – managing the conversation, managing the software/intake process, asking for help in unique situations
- Work with volunteer resources to book volunteers to have a roster of volunteer support
- Ensure that all external communications through our agency phone line and central emails are managed in a timely fashion
- Resolve customer complaints/inquiries
- EFH Program Coordination
- Maintains all program schedules, including but not limited to EFH Location Schedules, Home Delivery Schedules, etc
- Maintain External Agency communications regarding ongoing CFB updates and changes and ensure onboarding process
- Conducts program & environmental service gap assessment
- Support key projects that identify and develop alternate program delivery opportunities
- Collect and organize data to complete reports on a timely basis
- Organize and centralize department’s files and records
- Cooperate with other CFB departments to maximize program opportunities and ensure consistent and quality programming
- Collaborate on the design of specific marketing materials
- Prepare program descriptions, surveys, quarterly reports, and write-ups.
- Performing other duties as required.

Education and experience required:
- Degree in relevant field such as Administration, Finance, Management or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience in being persistently creative in generating new ideas for systems’ improvement.
- Proficient in a variety of computer applications including databases and the Microsoft 365 suite.
Working conditions and physical requirements:
This is a regular, full-time position, working 40 hours per week (including a half hour unpaid lunch break) 5 days a week, 8 hour per day. Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Must be able to sit for long periods of time. May require visits to other partner organizations within city limits. May be required to lift up to 20 lbs. Must be willing to work flexible hours as necessary.
