Summary

The Family Resource Advisor will be responsible to meet with all families requesting basic needs support, completing a brief assessment, and determining what supports and resources can be provided to the family. They will also ensure that families are connected to ongoing services as needed and at times will provide short-term coaching support to ensure families have all their needs met. We are hiring for both Mini Thni and Eden Valley.

Description

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Program Coordination: Organize the daily operations of the basic needs’ programs, ensuring services are delivered efficiently and effectively.
  • Family Support: Build collaborative relationships with families and provide direct support, including intake assessments, referrals, and follow-up services to ensure their needs are met.
  • Budget and Resource Management: Working with the program supervisor and manager will monitor expenditures to ensure that resources are used effectively with no overspending. This could include the management and distribution of additional resources such as food, clothing, and other essentials.
  • Community Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with families in the community as well as with community partners to further the goal of offering a wide range of meaningful activities and to ensure that families receive all the supports and services they need, as identified in the intake and assessment process.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with other prevention programs to ensure a comprehensive and wholistic range of supports and services for children, youth, and families.
  • Compliance: Ensure all programs comply with relevant regulations, policies, and best practices.
  • Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain complete and accurate records of all interactions with families and participate in compiling necessary reports as required.

Education, Skills & Qualifications:

  • Diploma or degree in the following fields is helpful, Human Services, Nonprofit Management, or a related field. Equivalencies such as work experience and life experience will be considered.
  • Experience working in a social work type role would be beneficial, preferably in a First Nations setting.
  • A clear Police Information Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Search, and an Intervention Record Check is required upon commencement of employment.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License, reliable vehicle, and clear driver’s abstract.
  • Excellent people skills • Ability to apply trauma-sensitive principles in all interactions.
  • Ability to provide immediate support and solutions during crisis situations.
  • Manage multiple cases efficiently and in a time sensitive manner.
  • Proficiency in data management and reporting.
  • Strong understanding of Bearspaw First Nation culture, traditions, and history.

Employment Conditions & Hours: 

  • Full-Time, typically Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm with some evening and weekend work required.
  • Clear criminal record check along with a vulnerable sector and a child intervention check.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License, reliable vehicle, and clear driver’s abstract.
