We are a multi-services organization, supporting community needs including a residential shelter, community counselling, and children’s programming.
The Radiance Children’s Centre is Canada’s first licensed full-time facility of its kind. It stands at the forefront of breaking the cycle of violence by addressing the unique needs of children exposed to family violence.

WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR
- Under the general direction of the Executive Director, develop, implement, and manage all financial data and strategies to ensure alignment with the organization's mission, vision, values, and goals, ensuring long-term financial sustainability.
- Lead the annual budgeting process, financial forecasting, and analysis of financial performance, providing strategic recommendations to the Executive Director.
- Oversee, review, analyze, create, and modify all aspects of accounting business processes for efficiency and accuracy ensuring all financial transactions are processed and recorded in compliance with audit and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and present accurate and timely financial reporting for the Executive Director, Board, Executive, Government, Foundations, or other relevant stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard assets, ensure completeness and accuracy of financial data and compliance with laws and regulations.
- Coordinate annual financial statements, audits, tax filings, regulatory and statutory reporting, and remittances.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks, developing and implementing risk management strategies to protect the organization's financial health and report key risks to the Executive Director.
- Develop, document, audit and communicate business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Uphold the organization's mission, vision, and employment values by demonstrating integrity, transparency, and accountability in all aspects of operations including financial matters.
- Inspire, coach, and manage finance contract employees by setting clear goals and expectations, providing guidance, support while cultivating a culture aligned in Radiance values.
- Support the Executive Director and other executives by providing financial insights, analysis, and recommendations to inform strategic decision-making including reporting.
- Collaborate with peers across departments to ensure integration of financial goals into the overall organizational planning and operations.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including donors, government agencies, financial institutions, external auditors, vendors, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Oversees property assets including all leases, contracts and other financial commitments, insurance obligations and other corporate assets throughout Alberta necessary for effective operations.
- Co-ordinates and compiles the annual operating and capital budgets utilizing input from other department heads. Provide updates and required reporting to the executive team.
- Champions best practices, creative thinking, effective planning, and timely decision making.
- Other job duties as assigned by direct supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED
- An undergraduate degree supplemented by an accounting designation (CPA, CA, CGA). Strong financial analysis skills are critical with relevant financial leadership experience at an executive level is required. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the not-for-profit sector, including sophisticated fund and grant accounting, compliance, and reporting.
- 5+ years prior work experience in a similar position, preferably with non-profit experience.
- Strong track record of creating and executing policies and procedures related to finance and administration.
- Technical proficiency with QuickBooks Pro accounting software, or a comparable accounting system.
- Proficient in Microsoft office with advanced Excel skills are a must.
- Proficiency and prior experience with financial management is essential.
- Proven analysis/problem-solving skills to analyze the business and revise processes align resources to strengthen policy.
- Strong knowledge of business analytical practices and methodologies required.
- Diligent and firm with high ethical standards.
- A business acumen partnered with attention to the human element.
- Proven ability to oversee and ensure the accuracy of financial data, reporting, and audit coordination.
