Who You Are
A highly motivated financial administration expert with sharp skills in both full cycle bookkeeping and payroll/benefits with a speciality in non-profit organizations receiving multiple grants throughout the year. You are efficient, organized and adept at tracking cash flow while ensuring the financials are maintained in a timely manner. Identifying priorities comes naturally and dealing with unanticipated change is a welcome diversion. Dealing with regulatory bodies is nothing new and taking initiative is second nature as you work autonomously as easily as you collaborate with others. Responsible for critical financial and payroll operations, you take great pride in being detail oriented and seek opportunities to improve efficiencies while expanding your knowledge and maintaining legal compliance. Your integrity will ensure inclusive and respectful relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, maintaining the NaAC’s stellar reputation as a premier creative hub for artists living with disabilities.
Reporting to the Manager, Operations, your existing skillset will equip you well to handle our fast-paced environment with aplomb and finesse.
Your Primary Responsibilities Will Include:
Bookkeeping
- Responsibly manage all aspects of A/P and A/R
- Ensure timely handling of weekly cash deposits at the bank (requires ability to take cash to the bank)
- Invoicing and expense management
- Monthly reconciliations and other month end and year end procedures
- Cash flow management and reporting
- Produce accurate and timely financial reports; contribute to or develop grant related reports as required.
- Coordinate grant funds, including deferred funds; track expenses against; realize income
- Maintain regulatory body compliance
- Contribute to budgeting exercises; report on budget compliance
- Contribute to year end audit preparation
- File annual T4As with CRA, as required; File foreign worker taxes with CRA, as required
- Other general accounting support that ensures alignment of our revenues and expenses with our grant agreements, the Canada Revenue Agency, and others
Payroll & Benefits Administration
- Maintain accurate and confidential payroll records (~20 employees + contractors)
- Process semi-monthly payroll; manage irregular payroll requirements
- Ensure timely and accurate addition of new employees to the payroll system; manage employee status updates in the payroll and benefits systems
- Ensure all systems related to payroll are maintained and updated as required (e.g. benefits)
Your Existing Skills Include:
- Minimum of 5 years full cycle bookkeeping knowledge and experience with a strong understanding of grant management
- Minimum of 3 years of payroll and benefits administration
- Intermediate working knowledge of Quickbooks Online
- Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Demonstrable attention to detail
- Demonstrable and highly proficient oral and written knowledge of the English language
- Demonstrable professional communication skills

Eligibility
- All candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada and Alberta indefinitely.
Compensation & Working Hours
- $50,000.00 annual salary for 30 hours per week
- Core working hours of Monday-Friday between 8am and 5pm. NaAC supports flexible work schedules as long as they don’t conflict with the needs of the organization.
- Opportunity to work hybrid upon completion of training; subject to supervisor’s approval; employee required to maintain suitable internet bandwidth to support efficient remote work.
