The HR Generalist is responsible for managing a wide range of HR administrative functions, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations while supporting the full employee lifecycle. Leading end-to-end recruitment, including job postings, sourcing, screening, interviewing, and onboarding new hires. This is a non-union position working 35 hours per week.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Lead full-cycle recruitment, including job postings, sourcing, screening, interviewing, and selection.
  • Develop and implement effective recruitment strategies to attract top talent.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to assess staffing needs and define hiring criteria.
  • Manage employer branding initiatives and enhance the candidate experience.
  • Attend job fairs and recruitment events to build talent pipelines.
  • Coordinate and facilitate onboarding and orientation to ensure a smooth transition for new hires.
  • Prepare offer letters, internal transfer documents, contract end notices, and extension letters for temporary employees.
  • Input and maintain accurate employee data in the HIRIS system.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, HR databases, and personnel files.
  • Administer employee benefits, including enrollments, changes, and terminations.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employee benefits inquiries.
  • Monitor the HR inbox, respond to employee inquiries regarding policies and procedures, and escalate as needed.
  • Assist with HR reporting and analytics to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Support employee engagement initiatives and retention strategies.
  • Facilitate training programs related to HR policies and compliance.
  • Collaborate with external organizations and coordinate practicum student placements.
  • Assist in reviewing and updating HR process templates and workflows.
  • Contribute to ongoing improvements in HR operations, ensuring efficiency and best practices.
  • Ensure Compliance with Accreditation Standards; Maintain current police and IRC checks, professional registration (if applicable), and required accreditation-related training.
  • Other duties as assigned to support FearIsNotLove’s programs.

WHAT YOU BRING TO OUR MISSION

  • Diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of HR experience, including talent acquisition and HR generalist responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge of employment standards and HR best practices.
  • Experience with UKG applicant tracking systems (ATS) and HRIS platform.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Proficiency in MS word, Excel and PowerPoint and willingness to learn new tasks.
  • Utilize critical thinking strategies in unpredictable circumstances and to respond effectively.
  • Ability to set priorities and manage workloads with minimal supervision, self-motivated with strong self-management ability.
  • Experience working in a not-for-profit environment would be an asset.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment would be an asset.

  • Ongoing training and development is a required condition of this position.
  • A criminal records search and an intervention record check are conditions of employment.
  • If eligible for registration with a professional body, registration must be current.
