The Role:
We’re looking for a dynamic and passionate individual to join Wood’s Homes as a Learning & Development (L&D) Trainer on a 3-year contract. This role is the ‘face’ of Wood’s Homes to all new hires as you oversee our 3-week internal onboarding program called The Woods Homes Academy. The onboarding program, facilitated by you and other Woods Homes staff, is designed to equip new hires with the clinical theory and practical skills they need to confidently begin their roles and effectively support our frontline programs. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute your expertise by presenting complex concepts in a clear, engaging way, ensuring new hires retain and apply the knowledge they need to effectively support our programs once they graduate. During this 3-year period, you'll have the opportunity to shape the future of our Academy training initiatives, partnering with a dedicated team of mental health professionals.
This role reports directly to the Director, People and Culture.
What You’ll Do:
- Coordinate and manage our Academy’s 3-week training sessions, ensuring seamless execution and effective delivery.
- Facilitate engaging, high-quality training sessions that resonate with participants, ensuring they acquire the skills needed for success.
- Mentor new hires, guiding them through their learning journey and supporting their integration into the company culture. Collaborate with senior woods homes staff to assess and place new hires.
- Contribute to the recruitment process by participating in the interview panel and collaborating with the People & Culture Recruitment Specialist.
- Collaborate with the People & Culture team and Senior Woods Homes Staff on various recruitment activities, including addressing sensitive matters such as terminations, when required.
- You will support annual COR maintenance audits by ensuring compliance with internal safety audits and maintaining your auditor certification through the Continuing Care Safety Association (CCSA). (And don’t worry – we’ll assist you in getting certified!)
What We’re Looking For:
- Leadership Expertise: You’ve successfully managed teams, mentored individuals, and overseen operations with confidence and skill.
- Clear Communication: You excel at simplifying complex ideas, ensuring clarity whether you're leading a training session or coaching an individual.
- Training Experience or Passion: You have experience designing and delivering impactful training programs, or you are highly motivated to develop these skills. Either way, you're eager to help others grow.
- Adaptability: You can adjust strategies and techniques to meet the needs of diverse training environments and real-world challenges.
- Team Collaboration: You thrive in collaborative settings, working with diverse teams—stakeholders, subject-matter experts, and colleagues—to create exceptional outcomes.
- Problem-Solving: You are skilled at identifying challenges and crafting creative solutions, using both your experience and calm, focused thinking to resolve issues.
- Relevant Experience: You have experience in the mental health field, understand the challenges, and bring a unique perspective on identifying opportunities for improvement and growth.
Bonus Skills:
- If you are a Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) Trainer, that’s a plus! However, if you're not certified, we’re happy to support you in getting certified.
