FearIsNotLove (the new brand evolution and operator of Calgary Women’s Emergency Shelter) works to inspire and build a dignity driven movement, cultivating communities that are free from domestic violence and abuse. We serve all people to live free from fear, neglect, violence, and abuse through a comprehensive range of innovative programs and services; from prevention and education, to counselling and emergency supports.
The agency plays an important role in the daily lives of individuals and families living with fear in their close relationships. In whatever way domestic violence impacts a person; whether they are a victim, someone who uses abuse and wants to change, or someone who knows another person being abused—FearIsNotLove is here to help.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Under the Finance Director and with support of the Director of Client Services, manage and provide coverage for Facilities Lead, IT Lead, and Team Lead Food Services
- Act as a strategic leader in operations management, proactively developing and executing plans that improve operations and optimize resources.
- Oversee all building operations, including preventive maintenance, repairs, and improvements for the emergency shelter and other agency properties.
- Identify and implement cost efficiencies related to facilities, maintenance, security, and operational logistics.
- Supervise and monitor performance of Facilities and IT Leads, and Team Lead (Food Services), and related service contractors
- Ensure all agency owned properties comply with municipal bylaws, codes, and health and safety regulations.
- Work with Finance team to develop and oversee facilities budgets, ensuring responsible allocation of resources and alignment with organizational financial strategies.
- Contribute to capital reporting, ensuring proper tracking, planning, and execution of capital expenditures.
- Collaborate with Client Services and other staff to ensure optimal operational support
- Maintain inspections, certifications, and licenses required for the emergency shelter building and associated programs.
- Liaise with vendors for office equipment, telecommunications, and facility-related technology needs in accordance with agency policies.
- Plan and manage workspace needs across all agency locations, ensuring optimal functionality and efficiency.
- Serve as a member of the leadership team, participate in Client Services Leadership team meetings as needed.
- Support capital funding planning, applications, and reporting.
- Build the capacity of the on-call team to be able to respond after hours to some facility related issues, such as knowing which contractors to call on an emergency basis, for which situations.
- Ensure compliance with accreditation standards, maintain police and intervention record checks, and complete required training.
- Other duties as assigned to support FearIsNotLove’s programs.
WHAT YOU BRING TO OUR MISSION
- Post-secondary certification in facility management, operations, or a related field is an asset.
- Experience in project and/or construction management.
- 5+ years of experience overseeing portfolios which include operations logistics, and improvements.
- Experience leading staff formally and informally
- Prior experience contributing to budgets and capital expenditures.
- Proven ability to identify and implement cost efficiencies within an organization.
- Experience managing service contracts and vendor relationships.
- Familiarity with preventative maintenance ticketing systems is an asset.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to lift 30+ lbs. as necessary.
- Willingness to work outside of regular business hours on occasion to respond to facility related crisis situations.

- Ongoing training and development is a required condition of this position.
- A criminal records search and an intervention record check are conditions of employment.
- If eligible for registration with a professional body, registration must be current.
