To help our members, who are all volunteers, be successful we require a Program Coordinator. The role will supply support to both our Carl Smith Stay-in-School program and to our local and international charitable initiatives.

Description

The Rotary Club of Calgary, Downtown is an organization dedicated to helping in our community and around the world.  Established in 1914 it currently has over 100 members who work together as part of the worldwide Rotary organization which focuses on Promoting Peace, Fighting Disease, Providing Clean Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Saving Mothers and Children, Supporting Education, Growing Local Economies and Protecting the Environment.  Information about the Rotary Club of Calgary can be found on the club website:  rotaryclubofcalgary.org 

The Position
To help our members, who are all volunteers, be successful we require a Program Coordinator. The role will supply support to both our Carl Smith Stay-in-School program and to our local and international charitable initiatives. 

A large part of the role is the coordination and administration of the local Carl Smith Stay-in-School program run by the club.  This includes working with children and families to ensure that bright students facing learning challenges are given the opportunity to have mentorship and encouragement to complete their high school programs and go on to further studies.  The successful candidate will be expected to facilitate meetings for the Stay in School program, including events for the students involved, and a fund-raising golf tournament. The position also provides support to our Large and Small Donations committees and to the World Community Service committee, as well as providing support to the Office Manager.  This may include attending meetings and taking minutes as well as preparing reports and helping with data management.  Opportunity exists to expand responsibility in these areas in the future.

The role is remote as the club does not have a physical office and all work is done from home or at various sites in the city, for which appropriate compensation for travel/mileage will be provided.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Experience working with charitable organizations and/or programs
  • Experience with volunteer management/coordination
  • Skill and experience with Microsoft office, Teams and data bases
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to represent the high standards of the Rotary organization to the community
  • Relevant post secondary education
