FearIsNotLove (the new brand evolution and operator of Calgary Women’s Emergency Shelter) works to inspire and build a dignity driven movement, cultivating communities that are free from domestic violence and abuse. We serve all people to live free from fear, neglect, violence, and abuse through a comprehensive range of innovative programs and services; from prevention and education, to counselling and emergency supports.
The agency plays an important role in the daily lives of individuals and families living with fear in their close relationships. In whatever way domestic violence impacts a person; whether they are a victim, someone who uses abuse and wants to change, or someone who knows another person being abused—FearIsNotLove is here to help.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Lead end-to-end recruitment, including job postings, sourcing, screening, interviewing, and selecting candidates.
- Develop and execute recruitment strategies to attract top talent.
- Collaborate with hiring managers to determine staffing needs and hiring criteria.
- Manage employer branding initiatives and candidate experience.
- Coordinate onboarding and orientation for new hires to ensure a smooth transition.
- Draft accurate offer letters for new hires and internal transfers, as well as prepare contract end notices and extension letters for temporary employees.
- Maintain applicant tracking systems and recruitment metrics to measure effectiveness.
- Assist with monitoring the HR inbox, helping to address employee inquiries regarding policies, and HR procedures. Ensure a timely response and direct inquiries to the appropriate departments or individuals as needed.
- Provide assistance with various HR functions by helping to manage and update HR process templates.
- Maintain accurate employee records, HR databases, and personnel files.
- Facilitate training programs related to HR policies and compliance.
- Assist with HR reporting and analytics to support decision-making.
- Support HR initiatives such as employee engagement activities, and retention strategies.
- Coordinate with external practicum students and organizations.
- Attend job fairs and other recruitment events.
- Ensure Compliance with Accreditation Standards; Maintain current police and IRC checks, professional registration (if applicable), and required accreditation-related training.
- Other duties as assigned to support FearIsNotLove’s programs.
WHAT YOU BRING TO OUR MISSION
- Diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 2-5 years of HR experience, including talent acquisition and HR administration responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of employment standards and HR best practices.
- Experience with UKG applicant tracking systems (ATS) and HRIS platform.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
- Proficiency in MS word, Excel and PowerPoint and willingness to learn new tasks.
- Utilize critical thinking strategies in unpredictable circumstances and to respond effectively.
- Ability to set priorities and manage workloads with minimal supervision, self-motivated with strong self-management ability.
- Experience working in a not-for-profit environment would be an asset.
- Experience working in a unionized environment would be an asset.
IMPORTANT DETAILS YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Ongoing training and development is a required condition of this position.
- A criminal records search and an intervention record check are conditions of employment.
- If eligible for registration with a professional body, registration must be current.
- In accordance with Canadian immigration requirements, priority will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada.
