Position Overview 

The K-12 Programming Team Lead oversees and ensures the effective delivery of Brown Bagging for Calgary's Kids (BB4CK) in-school and summer programs. This role provides leadership to a large team of staff and volunteers, ensuring alignment to strategic goals while delivering data-driven, dignified programming to support Calgary's growing food insecurity needs, as aligned with our vision and mission.

The K-12 Programming Team Lead contributes to the strategic direction, culture, and foundation at BB4CK while also building and supporting strong external relationships with schools and community partners to enhance program impact and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities of the Volunteer Engagement Specialist:

Whole Organization

  • Take ownership of your personal and professional health and well-being to ensure you can effectively perform in this role.

Leadership & Team Management

  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and mission-driven work environment while leading a large team that reflects BB4CK's values of trust, people, and action. This is accomplished by providing coaching and support to direct team members while also contributing to this organizationally with cross-team collaboration and engagement.
  • Contribute to the overall direction and high-level decision-making across the organization by fostering collaboration, driving strategic initiatives, and ensuring alignment with our mission and impact.

Program Oversight & Coordination

  • Align K-12 programs with the organization's strategic goals alongside the Director of Programming and work to continually support the K-12 team in developing, improving, and maximizing the various programs.
  • Develop and implement strategies for growth, efficiency, and impact measurement within the program.
  • Develop and oversee the K-12 operational budget, ensuring resources are used effectively while supporting individuals and teams in thoughtful financial planning.
  • Oversee and manage health and safety practices for all in-school programming, ensuring operational compliance by meeting or exceeding Alberta Health Services (AHS) standards, organizational policies, and other regulatory requirements. 
  • Collaborate with the Director of Programming to build and maintain strategic relationships with schools, volunteers, and community partners, ensuring alignment with program needs to position BB4CK for impact and support the team in managing key relationships.
     

Relationship Management & Community Engagement

  • Work closely with the Family Engagement and Evaluation team to ensure that programming is data-driven and centred around the kids we serve. Continuously review and evaluate feedback from families, kids, schools, volunteers and others.
  • Participate in community events, school meetings, and networking opportunities as needed to support relationship-building and program visibility
  • Collaborate with educators, administrators, and external stakeholders to expand program reach and effectiveness.

Data Tracking & Reporting

  • Ensure the K-12 team maintains accurate records of program participation, school engagement, and volunteer contributions.
  • Monitor key metrics and prepare reports to support strategic decision-making and program improvements.
  • Use data insights to identify trends, challenges, and growth opportunities.

Education and Experience:

  •  5-7 years of mid-level experience working within a team, including 1-2 years in a leadership role.
  •  3+ years of education and/or experience in community engagement, program delivery, or participant-informed programming.
  • Experience or knowledge in managing health and safety standards, ideally within educational settings or similar programs, is preferred.

Other Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to inspire and support staff and volunteers.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities, particularly with schools and community partners.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, ensuring effective program planning and execution.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, able to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently.
  • Passion for food security, child nutrition, education, and community service.

Kitchen Support 

  • All employees of BB4CK are expected to offer their support in our kitchen spaces, as needed, while managing their own capacity and schedules throughout the course of their employment.

What We Offer 
BB4CK offers a competitive total compensation approach to support our people's physical, psychological, cultural, and financial well-being. Base salary is calculated at the 50th percentile of market value, with additional benefits equivalent to over $18,000.
