POSITION OVERVIEW
The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for overseeing volunteer activities within the organization.  Their key activities include volunteer recruitment, orientation and training, placing volunteers in different roles, and recognition activities.   Additionally, the Volunteer Coordinator plays an active role in supporting internal and external organizational events.  Working collaboratively with team members and supporters, this position helps to create meaningful opportunities for women to connect and create change in the community.

KEY DUTIES

  • Oversees the recruitment, onboarding, and training of volunteers.
  • Matches volunteers with appropriate opportunities.
  • Maintains regular communication with volunteers to ensure their placement is a good fit.
  • Supports educational field placements.
  • Plans and coordinates volunteer recognition events.
  • Maintains files, records, applications and other data related to volunteers.
  • Works with other team members to plan and deliver successful internal and external events.
  • Actively participates in regular supervision.
  • Participates in activities related to equity, diversity, and inclusion as well as Truth and Reconciliation.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Undergraduate degree in related field.
  • Member in good standing with relevant regulatory body (if applicable).
  • 5+ years of experience working with volunteers.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire others.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with people of diverse backgrounds. 
  • Understanding of women’s issues and the importance of empowering women and girls.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite or related applications.

WORKING CONDITIONS
The Women’s Centre is a storefront community center operating in an open environment. This role will require attendance and participation in off-site meetings and events in the community. This position requires evening and occasional weekend work.
