CCIS’s Community Development & Integration Services (CDIS) Division is looking for our next Volunteer Coordinator and is accepting applications from qualified job seekers. The primary function of the Volunteer Coordinator is the active recruitment, training, deployment, and monitoring of volunteers in support of the settlement and integration of immigrants into the community.

Description

Primary Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Recruiting volunteers based on the needs of BCIS and/or the community.
  • Creating and updating volunteer resource information as required.
  • Delivering orientation, training, and support to volunteers.
  • Organizing volunteer recognition and annual appreciation programs.
  • Promoting consistent volunteer management standards and policies, including police and child protection clearances.
  • Developing partnerships with other volunteer organizations in Brooks.
  • Maintaining a database of volunteers, including agency-established standards for tracking demographics and statistical data.
  • To prepare and submit articles on volunteer activities for publication in newsletters, etc.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree/diploma in Human/Social Services preferred.
  • 1-3 years’ experience working with new Canadians.
  • Experience in volunteer recruitment management.
  • Experience working in a not-for-profit agency and familiarity with immigrant settlement issues will be considered as assets.
  • Ability to relate and communicate effectively within a multicultural and multidisciplinary client and staff setting.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite and Internet.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and persuasive oral and writing abilities.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
