Job description 
Community Links is a non-profit registered charity that proudly serves the North Rocky View Region including Airdrie, Beiseker, Crossfield, Irricana, Balzac, Kathyrn and the surrounding areas in the County of North Rocky View.
Family Day Home (FDH) strives to enhance the social, physical, intellectual, and emotional development of the child. We are urgently seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join our Family Day Home Team. The Consultant, will be responsible for screening potential Educators, connecting Educators with potential families, and providing on-going monitoring visits to FDH Homes.  The Consultant will help organize regular monthly training to enhance the capacity of the Educator and provide access to appropriate resources.  The Consultant will ensure that childcare is following the Government of Alberta Child Care Standards.  The Consultant is responsible for all necessary paperwork and the process of managing incidents including Critical Incidents. 
Key Responsibilities

  • Screen, support and monitor Family Day Home Educators.
  • Work in collaboration with Family Day Home Manager with the implementation of the program.
  • Be responsible for the supervision of practicum students when necessary.
  • Conduct home visits (at a minimum of six per year) and maintain excellent records.
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies, child development standards, and regulations.
  • Provide training, resources, and ongoing supervision for Educators.
  • Act as a liaison between Educators and Parents.
  • Monitor and document incidents, safety checks, and program compliance.
  • Coordinate backup care and emergency support as needed.
  • Assist with the processing and management of Educators’ payroll is required.

Education, Skill Set, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Early Childhood Education Certificate – minimum Level 3, Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be knowledgeable and interested in children, families, and the dynamics of adult-child relationships.
  • Knowledgeable and have good understanding of child development and positive child behaviour guidance strategies.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours (including days, evenings, and some weekends), have valid Driver’s Licence and reliable transportation, travel in all weather conditions, and be available to respond to emergencies (when assigned the Emergency Cell Phone as per guidelines established for this purpose.)
  • Standard First Aid, Level C, CPR/AED, and ability to obtain a Criminal Record check (Vulnerable Sector) and CS Child and Youth Intervention check.
  • Free of conviction or pending trial involving child abuse, child neglect, moral corruption, or physical violence.
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills, including prioritizing and setting goals.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Capable of moving/lifting equipment/resources.
  • Driving to rural locations, in all weather and road conditions.  Current driver’s license with adequately insured reliable transportation required.
  • Experience working with diverse families, including high-risk situations, is an asset.
