The Opportunity: Community Support Manager
Community Links is seeking a compassionate, experienced, and strategic Community Support Manager to lead our Support Services and Counselling Services Teams with compassion, collaboration, and excellence. This leadership role ensures high-quality, evidence-based services that support families, children, and youth throughout the North Rocky View Region.
This role oversees a variety of programs including family violence supports, housing initiatives, basic needs outreach, and mental health counselling. The Community Support Manager will ensure efficient service delivery, provide staff supervision, help develop evidence-based programming, and builds community partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Oversight

  • Manage and oversee the delivery of counselling and support services, including individual, family, and group counselling for people of all ages.
  • Support and supervise the delivery of community-based programs such as family violence support, seniors’ services, basic needs outreach, and housing stability initiatives.

Team Supervision & Development

  • Provide day-to-day supervision, coaching, and mentorship to a multidisciplinary team of staff and students.
  • Lead regular team meetings to ensure communication, collaboration, and alignment with agency goals.
  • Foster a trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and strengths-based approach across all services.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and support staff in achieving professional development goals.

Program & Service Coordination

  • Plan, schedule, and evaluate evidence-based workshops, groups, and community events.
  • Oversee daily operations of support services programs including the 3rd Stage Housing Program, Reaching Home, and Fair Access initiatives.
  • Monitor caseloads, ensure quality of documentation, and maintain standards for service delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with ethical standards and agency policies.

Strategic & Administrative Leadership

  • Collaborate with the Leadership Team to align program delivery with the agency’s strategic plan.
  • Track and report on program outcomes and service statistics for funders, the Board of Directors, and stakeholders.
  • Support the creation of proposals, reports, and funding applications as needed.
  • Contribute to policy & procedure development, program evaluation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Community Engagement & Partnerships

  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with community agencies, funders, and partners.
  • Represent the organization on community committees, coalitions, and external working groups.
  • Identify emerging community needs and develop innovative programming in response.
  • Promote the agency’s mission and values to a wide range of stakeholders.

Risk Management & Health and Safety

  • Participate in the agency’s Response Team and Health & Safety Initiatives.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to service delivery, staffing, and community member safety.
  • Ensure staff follow safety protocols, complete incident reports, and maintain a safe work environment.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Human Services or a relevant field.
  • Minimum 2 years of counselling experience, including 1+ years in a leadership/management role.
  • Proven skills in staff supervision, team development, and program management.
  • Strong understanding of child/youth development, trauma-informed care, parenting strategies, and family dynamics.
  • Experience in crisis intervention, assessment, and community referrals.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, decision-making, and analytical skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and databases (such as Penelope).
  • Flexible, inclusive, and community-minded with a strong work ethic.

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s licence and reliable, insured vehicle.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the Region in varying weather conditions.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and lift equipment as needed.
  • Comfort working with high-risk populations, including those with mental health and substance use challenges.
  • Certifications (or willingness to obtain):
    • ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training)
    • First Aid/CPR Level C
    • Brain Story Certification
    • Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector
    • Children Services Child and Youth Intervention Record Check
  • Assets:
    • Previous experience in a not-for-profit setting
