Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Family Support: Provide direct support and build collaborative relationships with families through assessments, guidance, referrals, and follow-ups.
- Parenting and Child Development Support: Provide parents with clear, compassionate guidance on current child development and parenting practices.
- Case Planning: Create and carry out personalized case plans to support child safety and family stability.
- Resource Management: Collaborate with the program manager to identify and distribute essential items like diapers, food, and clothing to families in need.
- Community Engagement: Build strong relationships with families and community partners to offer meaningful activities and ensure families receive needed supports identified through intake and assessment.
- Collaboration: Coordinate with other prevention programs to provide holistic, comprehensive support for children, youth, and families.
- Communication: Maintain ongoing communication with all stakeholders to ensure quality care for families and share systemic issues with leadership to support community-wide solutions.
- Compliance: Ensure program compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and best practices.
- Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of family interactions and assist in preparing required reports.
Qualifications, Skills & Abilities:
- Diploma or degree in the following fields is helpful, Human Services, Nonprofit Management, or a related field. Equivalencies such as work experience and life experience will be considered.
- Experience working in a social work type role would be beneficial, preferably in a First Nations setting. Clear Criminal Record Check along with a vulnerable sector & child intervention record check.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License, reliable vehicle, and clear driver’s abstract.
- Strong understanding of Bearspaw First Nation culture, traditions, and history.
- Expertise in parenting models and ability to share information in a culturally sensitive manner.
- Strong assessment skills.
- Ability to apply trauma-sensitive principles in all interactions.
- Ability to provide immediate support and solutions during crisis situations.
- Develop and implement effective case plans tailored to each family.
Employment Conditions & Hours:
- Full-time with some evening and weekend work required to meet the needs of families
