Job Title: Support Staff

Position Title: Northern Alberta Support Staff
Location: Remote (Preferably Edmonton/Northern Alberta). Travel required using personal vehicle
Hours: 25 hours per week plus some additional program facilitation hours. 28 month term with possibility of extention
Compensation: $30-$40 per hour

The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting Hospice and Palliative Care Societies throughout Alberta by providing training, capacity building, and other essential services. This position requires excellent communication skills, a collaborative approach, a passion for palliative care, and experience in nonprofit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Training Support: Assist in the planning, coordination, and delivery of training programs for Hospice and Palliative Care Societies.

  • Nonprofit Society Support: Use your knowledge of nonprofit best practices to advise and support several nonprofit societies in Alberta 

  • Capacity Building: Work closely with societies to identify their needs and support them in building capacity to deliver high-quality palliative care services.

  • Resource Provision: Develop, organize, and distribute educational materials and resources to support palliative care practices.

  • Program Development: Assist in the creation and implementation of new programs aimed at improving hospice and palliative care services across Alberta.

  • Communication and Collaboration: Foster strong relationships with Hospice and Palliative Care Societies, ensuring open and effective communication.

  • Community Outreach: Participate in community outreach activities to raise awareness about hospice and palliative care services.

  • Data Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of training sessions, capacity-building activities, and other relevant data.

  • Feedback and Improvement: Gather feedback from societies and stakeholders to continuously improve support services.

Qualifications:

  • A background in healthcare, social work, nonprofit management or a related field is preferred. Comfortable presenting course content online and in person. 

  • Experience in hospice, palliative care, or a related area is an asset.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google suite and other relevant software.

  • Knowledge ofnonprofit organizations

  • Understanding of board governance 

  • Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle for travel within Alberta.

Working Conditions:

  • This is a remote position, requiring the candidate to have a reliable internet connection and a suitable workspace.

  • The position is 25 hours per week, with flexibility in scheduling. Additional hours for program facilitation

  • This position requires frequent travel, and the successful candidate must have the ability to travel several times per month (with use of personal transportation- to be reimbursed).

  • Compensation is $30-$40 per hour.
