Responsibilities include:
- Provide professional language interpretation/translation in different settings, including in the community, in various medical, legal, business, education, and other settings.
- Building excellent relationships with CCIS business clients and immigrant families.
- Demonstrating integrity and adhering to the highest standards of confidentiality.
- Attending meetings at different locations throughout Calgary, in person and online.
- Acting as a “fan of the program” (and CCIS), helping to promote it, representing it well, and contributing to its success.
- Contributing to an inclusive work environment through appropriate, effective communication and positive relationships.
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with complementary community-based services.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in English and the targeted language.
- Language interpretation credentials: certification, memberships, training, or work experience.
- Demonstrated experience providing language interpretation.
- Enhanced interpreting skills through continued education training.
- Proficiency in written and spoken communication.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, along with a positive attitude.
- As travel is required, the successful candidate must have a valid driver’s license, a clear driving abstract, and access to a reliable vehicle.
- All applicants must be legally eligible and entitled to work in Canada.
- Your own active liability insurance coverage.
- CILISAT / TIN # / ATIA members consider an asset.
- An acceptable criminal record check with a recent vulnerable sector search ((less than 90 days old); this will be obtained as part of the selection process after extending an offer.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
