Responsibilities include:

  • Provide professional language interpretation/translation in different settings, including in the community, in various medical, legal, business, education, and other settings.
  • Building excellent relationships with CCIS business clients and immigrant families.
  • Demonstrating integrity and adhering to the highest standards of confidentiality.
  • Attending meetings at different locations throughout Calgary, in person and online.
  • Acting as a “fan of the program” (and CCIS), helping to promote it, representing it well, and contributing to its success.
  • Contributing to an inclusive work environment through appropriate, effective communication and positive relationships.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with complementary community-based services.

Qualifications: 

  • Proficiency in English and the targeted language.
  • Language interpretation credentials: certification, memberships, training, or work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience providing language interpretation.
  • Enhanced interpreting skills through continued education training.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken communication.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, along with a positive attitude.
  • As travel is required, the successful candidate must have a valid driver’s license, a clear driving abstract, and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • All applicants must be legally eligible and entitled to work in Canada.
  • Your own active liability insurance coverage.
  • CILISAT / TIN # / ATIA members consider an asset.
  • An acceptable criminal record check with a recent vulnerable sector search ((less than 90 days old); this will be obtained as part of the selection process after extending an offer.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
