Summary

Unison is seeking an experienced and dynamic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our leadership team. Reporting directly to the CEO, the CFO will oversee all financial operations of the organization, ensuring long-term sustainability and alignment with Unison's mission and strategic goals. This role will work closely with the CEO and Board of Directors to develop and implement sound financial strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead annual and multi-year financial planning, including budget preparation and forecasting.
  • Oversee monthly financial closing, reporting, and variance analysis to ensure accuracy.
  • Manage cash flow, ensuring financial targets are met, and provide insights into revenue and expense opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, CRA regulations, and internal controls.
  • Supervise accounting functions, grants reporting, and tax filings.
  • Lead the annual audit process and manage relationships with external auditors.
  • Provide financial guidance for capital projects and contract compliance.
  • Manage and mentor finance staff, ensuring a high-performing team and clear communication.

Qualifications:

  • University degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.

 

  • CPA designation required.
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience, including 3+ years in a managerial role.
  • Proven experience with budgeting, financial analysis, and non-profit financial reporting.
  • Exceptional leadership skills, strategic thinking, and ability to drive results.
  • Strong proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, Microsoft 365) and Excel.

This is a full-time, overtime-exempt position, with a workweek of 35 hours (Monday to Friday). Flexibility in hours may be required to meet organizational needs.
