About Us
Canadian Mental Health Association, Alberta Division and Centre for Suicide Prevention (CMHA AB + CSP) work to further community mental health and suicide prevention across the province.

Together with CMHA Regions and our partners, we're building an Alberta where people's wellbeing is supported in their community – by a friend, a peer, a support group, their local CMHA office, or the medical system.

About the Programs:

Recovery College: Recovery Colleges (RC) provides peer-based learning opportunities and courses for individuals who are interested in improving their mental health and wellness. CMHA AB + CSP supports several regional partners across Alberta to operationalize RC programming through funding, core supports, and fostering a provincial network of RC.

Caregiver Connection: Caregiver Connection (CC) supports the unique role of Caregivers who support loved ones who experience mental health concerns, mental illness, and/or substance use. Caregivers are provided with information and peer-based support that they need to sustain their own wellbeing. CMHA AB + CSP support several regional partners across the Alberta to operationalize CC programming through funding, core supports, and fostering a provincial network of CC.

Skills for Safer Living: Skills for Safer Living (SfSL) is a psycho-educational group for youth aged 12-24 who have past or current experience of suicidal thoughts or suicide attempts. A concurrent group is available for the youth’s caregiver(s) to equip them with the knowledge and skills to support youth. SfSL aims to help participants build basic language, skills, and concepts to better understand thoughts about suicide while learning strategies to mitigate them and stay as safe as possible. CMHA AB + CSP supports partners and facilitators across Alberta to support and implement SfSL delivery.
