Summary

Reporting to the Director of Programs and Services, the MDT Coordinator is responsible for facilitating collaborative relationships with partner and community organizations and for leading efforts to ensure coordinated response to child abuse and neglect cases through the effective implementation of the MDT model.

Luna’s purpose is to ensure those impacted by child abuse receive the support they need to heal, build resilience, and thrive; and to create communities where offenders are held accountable, and all children and youth are safe.

This position provides guidance for the Multidisciplinary Team, including coordination and facilitation of MDT Triage and MDT Case Review, and assists in the identification of training needs for team members. The MDT Coordinator coordinates orientation to new MDT members regarding the MDT response to child sexual abuse and other forms of maltreatment. The MDT Coordinator is responsible for collaborating and maintaining relationships with organizational partners and external stakeholders to ensure that services for clients are well coordinated.

Duties and Responsibilities
Coordination

  • Promote and improve communication and coordination within the MDT ·
  • Provide oversight and supervision around the intake coordination and victim advocacy ·
  • Ensure service needs are culturally competent and inclusive ·
  • Review systems and processes in order to maximise the effectiveness, creativity and innovation of collaborative approach ·
  • Collaborate with the Director of Programs and Services in preparation and scheduling of MDT Case Review and Case planning meetings, creating meeting agenda and facilitating meetings ·
  • Identifies training needs for MDT professionals and disseminates information to team members creating training opportunities

Administration

  • Review and assess triage file information ·
  • Intake coordination – gathering and coordinating victim information ·
  • Manage data collection ·
  • Develop processes and systems for managing program data and case management activities ·
  • Assist in creation and ongoing implementation of the data management system ·
  • Assist in gathering data for quarterly reports ·
  • Collaborate with all members of the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) to ensure that all investigations and services are coordinated efficiently and expeditiously. ·
  • Evaluate CYAC/MDT processes and work to ensure Best Practice approaches and adherence with Canadian guidelines and NCA standards ·
  • Ongoing planning and implementation of the Learning and Development Framework

Facilitation 

  • Facilitate new staff orientation ·
  • Facilitate daily MDT triage and case tracking post triage ·
  • Disseminate MDT case decisions ·
  • Support in navigating and resolving conflict ·
  • Facilitate MDT Case Coordination and Case Review processes

Education and Experience

  • A university degree plus 3 years or a diploma and 5 years related experience in social sciences such as social work, psychology, criminology ·
  • Minimum of two years of experience in child welfare, criminal justice, juvenile justice, or mental health related fields working with child abuse victims and their families. Preference given for candidates currently employed within an MDT partner agency ·
  • Experience working with a multidisciplinary team ·
  • Strong understanding of the Victim Services Provincial mandate, Criminal Justice Processes and Children’s Services mandate

Qualifications and skills

  • General knowledge of child abuse interventions, child maltreatment and criminal investigations, and the roles and responsibilities of MDT partner agencies. ·
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently is required. ·
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills. ·
  • Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships internally and externally and work as part of a team with maturity, professionalism, positive attitude, tact and good judgement.
  • Strong team building, problem solving, and organizational skills. ·
  • General knowledge about the CYAC and MDT models. ·
  • Demonstrated knowledge of multiple cultures and the cultural impact on the delivery of services. ·
  • Ability to multitask and work with many different perspectives and professions. ·
  • Excellent computer and technology skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as the ability to learn and use web-based software or databases. ·
  • Travel may occasionally be required for educational or business purposes. [It is not anticipated that any travel would last more than 2 – 3 days.]
