We are currently recruiting a community-minded, team-oriented individual to join our Corporate Services team as an Information Technology and Systems Manager. This position will be responsible for overseeing IT systems and ensuring technology aligns with organizational goals.

The Calgary Food Bank is the first line of emergency food support for families and individuals facing crisis. As the city’s main charitable food hub and the most accessible food bank, we have the capacity to serve families, individuals, and organizations to fight hunger.  

We are currently recruiting a community-minded, team-oriented individual to join our Corporate Services team as an Information Technology and Systems Manager. This position will be responsible for overseeing IT systems and ensuring technology aligns with organizational goals.
 

Key Responsibilities:

MSP & Vendor Management:

  • Serve as the primary contact point for the Managed Service Providers, and Application Vendors ensuring that they meet the SLA’s and service expectations.
  • Coordinate with the MSP on system upgrades and network security.
  • Manage relationships with external IT Vendors and Consultants
    • Acts as a focal point for communicating related system problems within the department and collaborates with other teams and vendors on changes, fixes, and updates 
    • Manages the release process for applications, including effective department wide and end user communication

Cyber Security & Risk Management:

  • Create and Oversee security policies, backup strategies and disaster recovery planning.
  • Ensure Compliance with Cyber Security Frameworks
  • Work with MSP to mitigate risks, prevent downtime and respond to security threats.

IT Project & Change Management:

  • Lead IT projects such as system migrations, software implementations and infrastructure upgrades
  • Work with different departments to ensure the smooth adoption of new Technology.
  • Provide training and support for staff on IT policies and best practices.

Process Improvement & Compliance:

  • Implement Best practices in IT management to improve efficiency and service delivery
  • Support change management for new systems and tools
  • Maintain an Inventory to IT Equipment and Software licenses
  • Ensure department adheres to policies and procedures that are compliant with industry and regulatory policies 
  • Assists with the preparation of budget for the IT department, and services related interfaces and applications
  • Develops relevant metrics, measures and share information across the organization for continuous improvement of operations

Decision Making and Leadership Capabilities:

  • Handling multiple demands across departments, and effectively communicating priorities and timelines 
  • Problem solving and diagnostic abilities 
  • Applying established policies and procedures with sound judgement – determine what can be done independently and which requires escalation to the C-Suite

Education and Experience:

  • 3 – 5 years in IT project management or IT management
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Knowledge and understanding of goals and the interdependencies of functional departments/groups and ability to lead IT projects/vendors in addressing overall business needs.  
  • Knowledge of informational technology disciplines, e.g., software applications and interfaces, production operations, quality assurance and systems management, cybersecurity etc. 
    • Knowledge of project management process and systems, ITIL/ITSM

Skills & Capabilities:

  • Experience managing external vendors
  • Strong Understanding of cybersecurity principles and IT governance with the ability to translate
  • IT concepts into business solutions 
  • Ability to function in a dynamic information-based environment
  • Excellent communication skills

Working conditions and physical requirements:

Working conditions are normal for an office environment and may require occasional visits to the warehouse. This is a regular, full-time position, working 37.5 hours per week. The qualified candidate must be open to working outside of normal business hours and weekends. Some lifting (30lbs or less) required.
