- A competitive compensation package includes the following; salary range between $85,000.00 – $95,000.00, 3 weeks of vacation, flex days, matching RRSP, and comprehensive health and dental benefits plan paid by Aventa.
Established in 1970, Aventa Centre of Excellence for Women with Addictions is a leader in trauma-informed, gender specific addictions treatment for women. Through a multi-disciplinary team approach, Aventa’s skilled Clinical team delivers a trauma-informed curriculum researched and written by Dr. Stephanie Covington. Aventa’s operating funding is provided through provincial and federal Governments; Aventa has been partnered with the Alberta government since 1971. Aventa is accredited with Exemplary Standing through Accreditation Canada.
Aventa is seeking an experienced, motivated, flexible and relational Program Manager to work as part of our incredible team. The Program Manager provides leadership to the Phase II Treatment Programs and Intake and Assessments Teams by providing therapeutic, supervisory, and administrative direction. The Program Manager is responsible for ensuring that services are therapeutically competent, safe, and successful in achieving desired outcomes.
Responsibilities and Duties – Clinical
- Ensure the overall quality and continuous improvement of therapeutic services for women accessing our programs and services.
- Oversee the planning and development of programs and services in line with the mission, therapeutic framework and strategic plan of the organization.
- Oversee Assessment services provided by Aventa, ensuring quality practice including holistic focus, effective screening and planning, comprehensive treatment, recommendations and a responsive, welcoming and supportive atmosphere.
- Ensure the consistent and intentional application of theory, knowledge and skills congruent with Aventa’s Philosophy, Framework and direction.
- Provide therapeutic consultation to ensure that the interventions with respect to mental health issues and other risk factors are properly integrated with addiction treatment services.
- Research current literature and benchmarks to ensure understanding of evidence-based practice in the field of addictions.
- Work together with the Executive Management Team in conducting practice reviews and updating program content.
Supervisory
- Participate actively in supervision with Aventa’s Clinical Supervisor, Management Team, Executive Director and Staff.
- Responsible for ensuring the physical and psychological wellbeing of employees and contributing to a safe, healthy, and positive work environment.
- Provide trauma informed direct supervision of Phase II Clinical Counsellors, Team Leads, the Assessment Staff, Intake Administrator, Practicum Students and the FASD Transition Coordinator and overall supervision of Client programs and services.
- Ensure that programs are practicing accurate risk identification and effective risk management.
Administrative
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and Management Team and Staff to implement Aventa’s Strategic Plan.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and Management Team to oversee the administration of therapeutic programs and services offered by Aventa.
- Participate actively as a member of the Management Team, ensuring effective communication regarding Client services to the other members of the Executive, and communication of the organization’s direction and planning to Staff.
- Ensure sufficient and appropriate recruitment, screening, orientation, training and evaluation of program Staff.
- Ensure that programs comply with relevant legislation and professional standards.
- Along with the Executive Director and the Management Team, oversees the implementation and monitoring of standardized practices and licensing requirements in line with Accreditation Canada guidelines and the Mental Health Services protection Act (MHSPA).
- Ensure proper monitoring, evaluation and reporting of Client outcomes and statistics. Uses information to inform and direct the improvement of Client service.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
- A graduate degree in a clinical discipline preferred. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of bachelor’s degree in a human/health services field required.
- Registration with the corresponding professional regulatory agency preferred.
- Knowledge and skill in treatment planning, and group therapy (psychodynamic) facilitation.
- The successful applicant must have considerable experience in the supervision of professional Staff, a minimum of five years of Management experience preferred.
- Significant knowledge and experience working with a range of Clients presenting with addictions, trauma, and mental health issues.
- Current CPR and First Aid and Suicide Intervention certification required.
- Computer skills including proficient typing skills, Intermediate experience with Microsoft Suite and Outlook, as well experience with or willingness to learn an electronic Database.
- A clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Welfare Intervention Check (dated within 6 months).
