Coordinator, Marketing, Communications, and Event Planning

The Position:
The Coordinator, Marketing, Communications, and Events (“Coordinator”) works closely with the Administrative Team, Management Team and reports to the CEO. The Coordinator is responsible for social media, drafts internal and external communications, markets CanLearn services through advertising and resource fairs, and plans a variety of CanLearn events in collaboration with the CanLearn team and a vibrant group of volunteers.
The Responsibilities:
Marketing and Communications (70%)
- Work with the management team to author monthly newsletter and social media posts, update the website, and develop marketing and educational content.
- Continue to develop and coordinate advertising campaigns.
- Adhere to brand guidelines, educate others about brand
- Develop a content/events calendar and maintain an active social media presence. Scan newsletters, websites, and social media for events, conferences, and other opportunities to market our programs and services.
- Learn about all programs and services well enough to market and share information
- Develop and update CanLearn promotional materials and information
- Build connections with partners and potential donors
Events (20%)
- Plan agency events, including AGM, volunteer awards, staff gatherings, and open houses
- Attend a variety of events such as conferences, career fairs, and trade shows, including setting up and manning CanLearn tables and organizing a team to assist
- Help build staff engagement through internal communications tools and assist with staff activities and social gatherings
- Lead and/or assist with the planning of events such as the Servus Calgary Marathon, casino, CanLearn’s birthday, the annual Open House, and fundraising events
Administrative Duties (10%)
- Attend monthly management and administrative team meetings
- Rebrand program materials; update forms as needed
- Help with Board of Directors' administrative needs
- Ensure the CanLearn office is “on brand” helps to ensure client stories are posted and prepares presentations
- Welcome clients and attendees, and take on administrative duties and the work of the organization as required
- Contribute to strategic planning for marketing
- Attend all agency events, staff trainings, and other duties as required
Skills and Education
- Bachelor's degree in communications, Marketing, and Public Relations
- Experience producing written and visual content and social media posts
- Strong communication skills, including oral, digital, and written
- A strong work ethic
- A self-starter, able to work independently
- Good problem-solving skills
- Skill in graphic design is an asset
- Proficient with the use of information technology such as Teams, Canva, Microsoft Suite, videoconferencing, and presentation software such as PowerPoint
- Demonstrated experience with public speaking
- Organized, punctual, reliable, energetic
- Committed to embracing and learning more about ARDEI
- Develops, communicates, and works well on timelines and deadlines
