We’re on a mission to bring food closer to those who need it by launching a new branch in downtown Calgary. As the Branch Supervisor at our Neoma location, you'll be at the heart of this expansion—leading with compassion, directing with purpose, and ensuring every client experiences dignity and support. From managing a dedicated team of staff and volunteers to overseeing inventory flow and daily operations, you’ll be the driving force behind a smooth, efficient, and welcoming environment that feeds both body and soul.

What You’ll Do:

  • Supervise day-to-day branch operations, ensuring smooth and efficient food distribution.
  • Oversee warehouse functions including deliveries, inventory tracking, restocking, and overall flow of goods to support daily distribution needs.
  • Maintain a welcoming and respectful environment for clients, volunteers, and staff.
  • Ensure compliance with all Calgary Food Bank policies, procedures, and safe food handling practices.
  • Support the development and delivery of training, policy implementation, and quality control at the branch level.
  • Volunteer management which includes welcoming, coaching, training and supporting onsite volunteers.
  • Hire, train, supervise, and support staff and volunteers to ensure they are equipped to succeed in their roles.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, offer coaching, and support professional development.
  • Act as a key resource for employee and volunteer relations at the Neoma location.
  • Represent the Calgary Food Bank at meetings, events, and within community networks.
  • Support stakeholder engagement and partnerships at Neoma and other locations.
  • Monitor client data, service trends, and operational metrics to guide decision-making and improve outcomes.
  • Participate in or lead evaluations and continuous improvement initiatives for services and processes.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of all documentation and reporting requirements.
  • Operate equipment safely (e.g., pallet jacks), following all health and safety procedures.
  • Report issues related to safety, inventory discrepancies, or operational hazards promptly. 

Decision-Making & Leadership Capabilities

  • Make independent operational decisions to meet location objectives and service targets.
  • Balance client needs with organizational policies and resources.
  • Work closely with Senior Leadership on high-impact decisions affecting location operations.

What You Bring:

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant field (Community Development, Social Work, Nutrition and Food Science, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or related disciplines) 
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a leadership role within the nonprofit or food security (a combination of education and equivalent experience will be considered).   
  • Strong knowledge of food security issues, inventory management, community engagement, and client service best practices.
  • Experience working or supervising in a retail environment would be an asset.
  • Volunteer management and experience with a volunteer management system is an asset.

Skills & Capabilities

  • Excellent leadership, team management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to navigate complex stakeholder relationships with diplomacy and professionalism.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Proficiency in data management, reporting, and performance evaluation.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 and client database systems.
  • Ability to adapt and respond effectively to emerging challenges in food distribution services.

Working Schedule and Conditions:

  • Full-time hours:  37.5 hours per week
  • Occasional evening and weekend shifts may be required for operational needs.
  • Work is primarily conducted in a mixed warehouse and retail-like environment.
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, frontline service environment. 
  • Must be comfortable in changing work environments, standing or sitting for long periods of time and be able to lift 50 lbs.
