Job description
As part of the Knowledge Translation team and reporting to the Education Specialist, the Education Coordinator will support the development, implementation, and revision of educational content and resources. The role is optimal for a team member who is knowledgeable of adult learning and engagement strategies and how to apply them in community education settings, able to balance following instructions with applying creative approaches, has strong listening and communications skills, and thrives in a collaborative work environment.
Responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Support curriculum development and revisions.
- Collate qualitative and theme quantitative information gathered from trainings.
- Conduct environmental scans of educational content, resources, and facilitation practices, and obtain appropriate permissions for use.
- Read and summarize academic articles on topics of suicide and community mental health.
- Support Trainer hubs, including training and professional development opportunities.
- Facilitate training sessions and professional development for trainers and adult learners.
- Learn and understand different adult learning educational strategies.
- Apply community development and creative engagement skills and techniques with a broad range of learner populations.
- Perform other related duties as identified to meet the needs of the organization
Requirements
- A Baccalaureate degree in related social science fields, such as Health Promotion, Bed, BSW, Psychology, Sociology, Nursing, Anthropology, Public Policy, Psych Ed. Adult Ed., etc. A combination of experience and education may be considered.
- Minimum of two years of experience with health promotion education in a community setting.
- Demonstrated skills in community development and creative engagement techniques.
- Possesses cultural sensitivity and can apply an intersectional lens to ensure that the full scope of the populations we educate are inclusive in the design of the development and delivery of education.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Teams, Zoom and SharePoint.
- Ability to learn quickly, think logically and detailed, manage complex situations and demonstrate creative problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in conflict situations, positive attitude, willingness to work constructively in team environment.
- Ability to be self-motivated and flexible, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment of frequent change.
Hours
This full-time position is based on a 35-hour work week, with flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends. This position will work in a hybrid model with availability to work two days per week in our Calgary or Edmonton office. The typical work week is Monday – Friday, 8:30-4:30.
