The Children’s Cottage Society, established in Calgary in 1986, provides crisis nursery, community respite, and family support programs to more than 3,500 children a year. Fund Development Sr. Associate
Reporting to the Director of Development, the Fund Development Sr. Associate is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding of major gifts and grants from individuals, corporations, groups and foundations. This seasoned fundraising professional will be exceptional at building long-term relationships with donors and community groups who align with the Children’s Cottage mission.
The successful candidate will contribute to the development and execution of strategic fundraising initiatives and work collaboratively with their colleagues to achieve lofty annual fundraising goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the team with building long-term relationships between the Children’s Cottage Society and both prospective and current major donors,
- Manage a dynamic portfolio of individuals, corporate, and foundation prospects and donors throughout their donor journey,
- Focused attention will be required on identifying and engaging new major gift donors,
- Execute personal cultivation activities for building long-term relationships,
- Solicit prospects for donations and sponsorships at meaningful gift levels,
- Steward donor relationships with care and attention,
- Work collaboratively within an integrated fundraising model,
- Secure sponsorships for annual events when applicable,
- Collaborate with the Volunteer team to coordinate volunteer opportunities for interested donors,
- Maintain accurate records using DonorPerfect software,
- Stay current and connected with the philanthropic community,
- Provide expertise and support to the Fund Development team and across the organization,
- Represent the Children’s Cottage and our mission within the community,
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience in fundraising, with a large portion of that experience on major corporate and individual giving,
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field,
- Proven track-record of successful major gift fundraising,
- Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designation would be an asset,
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite,
- Experience and clear understanding of DonorPerfect, or equivalent software, is a necessity,
- Confident and solid track-record in delivering presentations for corporate partners and/or in the community.

Additional Requirements
- A Police Information Check, with a vulnerable sector search, is required upon commencement of employment,
- A Child Intervention Record Check is required upon commencement of employment,
- Must be able to work in Canada.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License,
Compensation
- This is a one-year contract position with the opportunity for renewal to a full-time position.
