Calgary Catholic Immigration Society (CCIS)’s Centre for Refugee Resilience Program is seeking a Clinical Supervisor/Mental Health Therapist and is accepting applications from qualified job seekers!
Primary Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provide leadership and consultation within the Centre for Refugee Resilience as part of a collaborative mental health team
- Supervise mental health therapists individually within their clinical work
- Supervise therapy team as a group to build their practice within the shared context of the Centre for Refugee Resilience
- Update team on emergent best practices and program policies
- Lead case and clinical consultations with therapy team members
- Support the therapeutic development of the team that aligns with personal, professional, and organizational values
- In collaboration with case coordinators, advice on screening, counselling intakes, and mental health needs of program clients
- Provide culturally competent counselling to individuals using trauma-informed and evidence-based treatment specific to their needs
- Provide continuous assessment and treatment planning for direct counselling clients who have experienced trauma
- Maintain documentation, evaluations and client records in accordance with agency policy and governing body as applicable
- Provide consultative services to address the changing needs of direct clients
- Facilitate group interventions as needed
- Provide statistical and narrative information on the therapy program for clinical evaluation, funding applications, reports, and research
- In collaboration with the Program Manager, strategize, plan, and offer consultation on funding proposals toward the growth and sustainability of the therapy program
- Work collaboratively with a diverse and multi-disciplinary team within CCIS
- Offer guidance on ethical decision-making in accordance with the Code of Ethics of the applicable governing body
- Participate in public education and promotion of the program, including development and presentation of workshops for the community and volunteers, as time allows
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in psychology, Social Work or another related field
- Registered with the appropriate professional association – CCC/CCPA/ACSW
- 4+ years clinical counselling experience, 2+ years in a context with immigrants or refugees
- Experience in treating trauma and other issues prevalent to the refugee population (depression, anxiety, chronic pain, PTSD)
- Specialization and training in culturally competent trauma-informed practices, which could include: EMDR, Expressive Arts, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, etc.
- Demonstrated experience providing culturally competent clinical services among an ethnically diverse population
- Group experience is an asset
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes occasional evenings to accommodate clients
- Ability to communicate in other languages is considered an asset
- Must have a valid driver’s license and own reliable transportation.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
- Must have a valid Criminal Record Check report
