Job Description
Reporting to the Buddy Up Program Lead, the Buddy Up Coordinator will be responsible for the identification, engagement and cultivation of new and current clients, promoting Buddy Up Skills Training, and serving as a representative of Buddy Up. This position is optimal for a team member with strong communication skills who excels at connecting with others, is skilled in cultivating new relationships, and is comfortable representing Buddy Up publicly.
About the Program
Buddy Up is a pan-Canadian men’s suicide prevention campaign. Built by men for men, Buddy Up promotes authentic conversations among men and their buddies. The campaign focuses on help-offering behaviour, building on men’s eagerness to help a friend. Buddy Up Champions engage the public through their communities and workplaces.
Responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with Buddy Up Champions and client organizations.
- Provide ongoing guidance and support to ensure successful implementation of Buddy up, resources, and principles.
- Sales, Outreach, and Client Engagement
- Actively promote Buddy Up Skills Training, workshops, and presentations.
- Identify, engage, and onboard new clients, supporting them through adoption and sustained implementation of offerings.
- Community Engagement, Education, and Representation
- Serve as an external representative of Buddy Up at events, conferences, and meetings.
- Deliver presentations with confidence and professionalism, reinforcing Buddy Up’s mission and approach.
- Perform other related duties as identified to meet the needs of the organization.
Requirements
- A Baccalaureate degree in a related field, such as Marketing or Business Administration or equivalent. A combination of experience and education may be considered.
- Ability to initiate and build relationships, establish trust and understand client needs to foster engagement and maintain participation.
- Previous experience with community mental health programs and/or suicide prevention training is an asset.
- Knowledge of mental health, addiction and/or suicide prevention systems and community services.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.
- Ability to learn quickly, think logically and detailed, manage complex situations and demonstrate creative problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in conflict situations, positive attitude, willingness to work constructively in team environment.
- Ability to be self-motivated and flexible, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment of frequent change.
Hours
This full-time position is based on a 35-hour work week. It is expected that the Buddy Up Specialist will work five 7-hour days each week during office hours; with flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends. This position will work in a hybrid model with availability to work three days per week in either our Calgary or Edmonton office. There may be requirements for travel to support program success. The typical work week is Monday – Friday, 8:30-4:30.
