Centre for Sexuality is a nationally recognized community-based organization delivering programs and services to normalize sexuality and sexual health across an individual’s lifespan. We have been leading the way in the areas of sexuality, healthy relationships, human rights, gender identity, sexual orientation, equality, and consent for over 50 years.  Sexual well-being for all is at the core of what we do. We teach, we train, and we advocate to support healthy bodies, healthy relationships, and healthy communities. We provide education, training, and counselling for anyone who needs support related to these topics.

We are hiring an amazing Summer Programs and Events Assistant to join our motivated team. This position will support the organizing and implementing of our summer programs and events, with a focus on camp fYrefly.
Camp fYrefly is a fun, educational, social, and personal overnight leadership retreat for 2SLGBTQ+ youth ages 13 – 17. Campers explore their identity, build resilience, enhance self-esteem, and develop leadership skills that positively impact their lives, homes, schools, and communities. Camp fYrefly Southern Alberta will take place at Camp Chief Hector from August 23 to August 27, 2025. Camp staff will be expected to be on-site for camp from August 22 to August 27, 2025.

As our successful candidate, you will: 

  • Work with the Centre for Sexuality team to support the planning of summer programs and events with a particular focus on 2SLGBTQ+ community events.
  • Support with the planning for and executing camp fYrefly, including registration, volunteer training, program planning, workshop coordination, technical support, and promotion.
  • Attend camp fYrefly and provide on-site event support from August 22 -August 27
  • Participate in relevant team meetings and professional development training sessions.

 Qualifications and attributes include: 

  • To qualify with grant requirements, the successful candidate must be:
    • between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment
    • a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act*
    • legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations
    • currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution or is a recent graduate. Experience with event and activity planning is considered an asset.

The position posting closes on June 6th, 2025 at 11.59pm.
This is a full-time short-term position from July 7th, 2025, to August 29th, 2025, working 35 hours per week. The hourly rate is $23/hour.

The successful candidate must be able to provide a police information record check with vulnerable sector search and be available to work some evenings and weekends as required.
