The Alberta Adolescent Recovery Centre (AARC) provides a unique, evidence-based, long-term treatment program supporting youth and young adults aged 12-21 dealing with substance abuse or addiction. The program also addresses the needs of impacted family members and loved ones, focusing on holistic recovery.
Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Clinical Support role based in Calgary, AB. The Clinical Support role provides assistance to the staff, clients, and families at AARC to support the day‐to‐day operations of the program. This position includes peer support to families of clients in the program, involvement with client and parent group therapy sessions as an adult participant, provide on‐floor supervision of the clients in treatment, de‐escalation of clients in treatment, assist clinical team with client intake meetings and intake procedures, accompany clients to appointments off‐site, and other clinical support and administrative duties as assigned. Participation in training according to Accreditation standards related to Intensive programming and Addictions based programming is required.
Qualifications
- Must be actively engaged in a 12-Step recovery program, with a sponsor and a home group.
- Demonstrated dependability through consistent employment or education programming for at least one year prior to application.
- Successful candidate will be required to complete the following training upon hiring (AARC pays the costs of required training):
- First Aid/CPR
- Suicide Awareness
- Self-Harm Awareness
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI)
- Quality Assurance/Outcomes
- Diversity and Cross-Cultural Awareness
- Indigenous Awareness
- Trauma-Informed Practice
- Addictions
- Previous experience or certification in these areas will be considered an asset.
NOTE: The successful candidate will be required to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Check and a Child Intervention Record Check.
