Description
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children
- Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, taking children to local points of interest, and provide opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity
- Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, well-being, and cultural safety of children
- Assess the abilities, interests, and need of children and discuss progress and problems with parents and other staff members
- Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems and prepare reports for parents, guardian, or supervisor.
- Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits.
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children.
Qualifications
- Completion of a Level 1, 2, or 3 Early Childhood Certification
- Experience working with children aged 19 months – 5 years.
- Demonstrated dynamic leadership through initiative, flexibility and resourcefulness combined with superior communication skills.
- Ability to work rotating shifts between the hours of 8:30am – 5:30pm
- Experience working with diverse populations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of community resources.
- Fluency in a second language is considered an asset.
- Experience in organization planning and implementation of an inclusive program in a Child Care Centre.
- Knowledge and use of the principles and methods of child development.
- First Aid Certificate
