Antyx uses the arts to engage youth and spark their curiosity and commitment to the world around them while sharing prevention skills and lifelong therapeutic tools. The Opportunity:
Antyx is seeking an Executive Director to provide administrative, operational and financial leadership to achieve the strategic priorities of the organization. Importantly, the Executive Director aligns with the mission, vision and values of Antyx and recognizes the potential of youth empowerment through the arts. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for providing strategic leadership and overall management of the organization’s operations and must be comfortable taking initiative, working independently, and balancing multiple priorities. The scope of responsibilities includes human resources, service delivery, financial management, risk management, fund development and community engagement. The Executive Director is responsible for leading a team of 5 staff who operate 3-4 programs year-round, with anticipated future growth. Direct reports consist of a Program Team Lead and Office Manager, with the Program Team Lead supervising Arts Facilitators.

Position Type: Full-time (32 hours per week; 4 work days with some flexibility needed for weekends and evenings)

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Strategy
    • Along with the Board of Directors, develops and implements Strategic Plans that align with the organization’s mission and vision
    • Be a trusted voice in the community, informing and speaking on key issues, needs and opportunities
    • Identifies innovative approaches to service delivery and adapts to evolving community needs
    • Leads, motivates and supports staff to actively participate in achieving organizational goals
  • Operational Planning and Management
    • Leads the development and delivery of high-quality programs and services that meets key performance indicators established by funding agreements
    • Establishes management of human resources in alignment with best practices, which may include recruitment, volunteer/student coordination, onboarding, coaching, termination, performance management/evaluation
    • Fulfills reporting requirements in a timely manner
    • Establishes policy and procedures to streamline internal processes and maximize efficiencies
    • Uses data and outcomes to inform ongoing program development and quality improvement processes
  • Financial Planning and Risk Management
    • Prepares annual operating budgets for the Board of Directors for approval
    • Plans, allocates, and be accountable for all budget matters to ensure financial health of the organization, ensuring clear and concise reporting to the Board and funders
    • Prepares and executes annual audits to ensure financial compliance
    • Identifies and assesses potential risks to the organization, including preparing and implementing risk mitigation or corrective action plans
  • Fund Development and Stakeholder Relationships
    • Prepares funding proposals, secures ongoing financial resources and identify new funding opportunities for daily operations and organizational growth
    • Builds and maintains strong relationships with stakeholders, funding sources, donors and other community partners
    • Represents the organization to enhance the profile and work of Antyx, including at community events, fundraisers, workshops, or conferences

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field at minimum, Master’s degree is an asset
  • 5-10 years of progressive leadership experience including at the senior or executive level (some experience with a non-profit organization is required)
  • Experience working with a Board of Directors
  • Knowledge of the issues faced by youth belonging to diverse communities such as racialized/ marginalized populations, Indigenous, 2SLGBTIQ+, newcomer communities
  • Knowledge of the arts community or arts-based community development is an asset
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including effective presentation and public-speaking skills, and ability to relate to a diverse audience
  • Experience in risk management activities and ongoing quality improvement processes
  • Strong financial and business acumen with managing a diverse funding portfolio, developing budgets, allocating resources and accurate financial forecasting
  • Track record of successful revenue generation, such as through fundraising events, approved grant applications or funding proposals
  • Ability to network and build relationships across government, funders, communities and industries
  • Reliable personal vehicle
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
