Job Developer
Hourly Position, 37.5 hours per week
Limited Term until March 2026
SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Job Developer will play a vital role in strengthening Calgary Immigrant Women’s Association’s connections with Calgary’s corporate sector and community contacts to create meaningful employment opportunities for CIWA clients. This role focuses on building and maintaining relationships with employers, expanding corporate networks, and supporting clients’ access to sustainable jobs across diverse industries.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build and maintain strong relationships with employers, industry partners, and community agencies to support employment and language training opportunities for immigrant and refugee women.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for new and existing business partnerships across multiple programs.
- Develop and implement collaborative initiatives and programs that are mutually beneficial to CIWA and its partners.
- Support client recruitment and practicum placements by creating promotional materials, including social media content, targeted to business and community partners.
- Promote CIWA’s services to employers and community stakeholders through marketing and communication strategies.
- Lead outreach, promotion, and orientation activities in the business and broader community to advance program priorities.
- Research and identify industries and employers with high potential for hiring immigrant and refugee women.
- Conduct needs assessments with business partners to ensure alignment of services and opportunities.
- Track and manage partnership engagement using the Salesforce database, ensuring accurate and timely data entry.
- Monitor and improve employer satisfaction with CIWA’s services.
- Design and implement program evaluation tools to measure outcomes and business partner engagement.
- Liaise, coordinate, and maintain consistent communication with collaborating program partners.
- Conduct follow-ups with business and community partners to strengthen ongoing relationships.
- Prepare and deliver regular reports and updates for funders and department managers.
- Actively support and participate in CIWA’s signature networking and employer engagement events, including the Monthly Networking Breakfast, Alumni Event, and Annual Business Luncheon.
- Identify and engage new community agencies and organizations for potential collaboration in community-based language training initiatives (e.g., HIPPY and Pebbles in the Sand).
- Participate in the establishment and ongoing work of an interagency HIPPY advisory committee.
- Represent CIWA at community events and internal organizational initiatives.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
- Post-secondary education in the area of Communications Studies, Business, Marketing, Education, Humanities, and/or Social Sciences.
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in job development, employer relations, recruitment, career services, or workforce development.
- Experience working with immigrant, refugee, or marginalized populations is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated success in building partnerships with employers and community agencies.
- Strong networking, relationship-building, and negotiation skills.
- Knowledge of local labour market trends and employer needs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop promotional and marketing materials.
- Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with CRM databases (e.g., Salesforce).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Cultural sensitivity and an understanding of barriers faced by immigrant and refugee women in employment.
- Second language is an asset

- Satisfactory completion of a Police Intervention Check
The successful candidate must satisfactorily complete a Police Information Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search. CIWA does not cover this cost.
