The Manager of Therapeutic Services is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Men’s Counselling Service, the Child, Youth and Family and Healthy Relationship Therapists. The Manager, Therapeutic Services, provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, and personnel management for three critical programs: the Child, Youth, and Family Therapy Program, the Healthy Relationships Program, and the Men’s Counselling Service. This role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality services, aligning program objectives with organizational goals, and fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Responsible for developing and implementing operational plans for the Men’s Counselling Service, Healthy Relationships Program, and the Child, Youth and Family Therapy program.
- Responsible for the leadership and management of programs in the portfolio, including longer-term visioning and planning for the programs.
- Responsible for the day-to-day supervision of staff, for their performance management, and for supporting their professional development. Consults with Practice Advisor as a resource for staff development needs related to their counselling practice.
- In conjunction with the Practice Advisor, ensures critical incidents are managed, including the assessment of risk and safety as follows:
- Ensures necessary notifications occur according to timelines, both internal and external.
- Ensures appropriate documentation of critical incidents is carried out and that CIR’s are reviewed by a supervisor prior to submission. Gathers any program trends that may arise from the Critical Incident Reports.
- Collaborates with the Practice Advisor over staff debriefing of critical incidents.
- Refers to Practice Advisor for clinical follow up on critical incidents – where there is a need for a shift in clinical interventions or approach.
- Responsible for elevating CIR’s to the Director as appropriate.
- Collaborates with the Practice Advisor if there are any staff development needs in the area of client support/ client counselling that are identified through critical incidents or that are identified through the day-to-day management of the programs.
- Responsible for ensuring the obligations of any government or funder contracts are met.
- Responsible for ensuring alignment of the program with the agency’s strategic direction.
- Responsible for the development of community partnerships that help FearIsNotLove to advance our mission in the community, forming collaborative partnerships where appropriate.
- Liaises with the Human Resources team where there are performance concerns, benefit administration, grievances/complaints and for leadership coaching/consultations.
- Liaises with the Sr. Talent Acquisition Specialist for matters pertaining to recruiting and onboarding/offboarding.
- Responsible for liaising with the Human Resources team in ensuring adherence to the Collective Agreement at all times.
- Responsible for maintaining a high degree of integrity in all union-management relations.
- Responsible for the implementation of actions in support of the work of the Occupational Health and Safety committee.
- Responsible for collaborating with the Director of Research & Evaluation pertaining to funder reporting.
- Responsible for maintaining good communication and collaboration with internal FearIsNotLove departments, including other Client Services programs, Finance, Resource Development, Communications, Administration, Research & Evaluation, IT, Facilities and Human Resources.
- Responsible for liaising with the Director of Research & Evaluation and the Director of Client Services, to ensure program outcomes are being measured as per our contracts, and that targets for survey completion are met, as well as any changes needed to the theory of change, program logic model, and data collection methods. Ensures program evaluation tools and outcomes are informed by Practice Advisor.
- Responsible for program design and development, and for the operationalization of program design. Ensures program design is informed by the Practice Advisor.
- Responsible for the management of staff schedules, vacation, expenses, and mileage.
- Responsible for monitoring expenditures in the program and ensuring the program budget is adhered to.
- Plans and leads team administration meetings, and for scheduling clinical meetings and trainings with the Practice Advisor.
- Responsible for collaborating with the Practice Advisor in planning and supporting the Practice Advisor’s role in the program.
- Responsible for taking an “agency” perspective when making decisions, so they are to the benefit of all of FearIsNotLove clients wherever possible
- Ensure Compliance with Accreditation Standards; ensuring client and staff files are audited and compliant to all CAC standards. Involves ongoing monitoring and review in supervision
- Maintain current police and IRC checks, professional registration (if applicable), and required accreditation-related training.
- Other duties as assigned to support FearIsNotLove’s programs.
WHAT YOU BRING TO OUR MISSION
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.
- Master degree in a related field preferred.
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience in staff and program leadership is required, five years preferred
- Understanding of the Response-based approach would be considered an asset.
- Skills in supervision, and program management.
- Strong leadership abilities, to promote excellent client service delivery and a positive work culture
- Ability to manage risk and to promote high ethical standards of practice

- Ongoing training and development is a required condition of this position.

- If eligible for registration with a professional body, registration must be current.
