TWO Positions: Casual On Call + Permanent Part Time

Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION:  This position is responsible for providing direct services (including childcare, menu development, and food prep with the women’s participation, recreational activities, and supportive case management-related activities in a residential setting for women 16 years and over), who are in immediate need for stabilization and recovery from sexual exploitation and addiction.  This position is responsible for ensuring the safety of all program Participants and their children, ensuring that women and their children are offered a range of service support to facilitate their healing and recovery.  With support from the team, including the Program Manager, this position helps to ensure all women and their children are welcomed into the RESET community and transitioned well into the subsequent RESET services and housing. 

REPORTS TO:  Program Manager

QUALIFICATIONS and SKILLS:

  • Minimum ECE or CSW certificate, and medication administration certificate with 1-2 years of related experience.  NOTE: Individuals with social work education must be registered with their appropriate professional regulating body;
  • Completion of a certificate program in addictions/concurrent disorders from an accredited educational institution preferred;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to access formal and informal community services and resources.
  • Comprehensive understanding of women’s issues related to poverty, sex-trafficking, homelessness, marginalization, violence, trauma, addictions, and mental health.
  • Strong relational and leadership skills (coaching, group facilitation, listening, motivating, problem-solving, etc).
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills with ability to solve problems directly and fairly;
  • Ability to manage and/or respond appropriately to conflict;
  • Strong administrative, time management and organizational skills;
  • Ability to demonstrate professional boundaries with Participants and others;
  • First Aid, CPR, Vulnerable Sector Police Information Check required;
  • Minimum Class 5 License required with a driver's abstract showing a clean driving record with a minimum of 3 years uninterrupted insurance history.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Conducts well-informed, clear shift changes with other staff including verbal updates, reading case notes, and staff communication book at the beginning and end of each shift;
  • Ensures all case notes are completed and up to date before leaving at shift end;
  • Supervises the safe storage and use of prescribed medications the women may require;
  • Assist women and their children with appointments – Medical, SFI, Child Welfare, etc. and advocate for women to receive the best, most appropriate treatment and care;
  • Attend relevant training and development workshops;
  • Facilitate in-house groups/workshops for women;
  • Move Participants into assigned front-line houses and ensure a smooth introduction and transition for both the Participant and Peer Mentor;
  • Ensure all program paperwork and Participant files are kept up to date and in compliance with Accreditation Standards;
  • Adheres to the Program Policies and Procedures Manual;
  • Transports women to appointments;
  • Attend AA/NA/CA meetings to support women;
  • Supervise and assist with menu development, grocery shopping, and meal preparation;
  • Supervise and assist with household chores, including household laundry and room “turnover” (cleaning and prep for the next resident);
  • Other duties as required.
