Duties and responsibilities:
Are you a dynamic and skilled fundraiser who’s passionate about equity, community, and creating meaningful social change? YWCA Banff is hiring a Senior Development Officer to strengthen our capacity to serve women and their families by growing donor support, deepening relationships, and advancing our vision of a thriving, equitable Bow Valley.
This mid-level position reports to the Director of Resource Development & Communications and is ideal for a relationship-builder, strategic thinker, and compelling communicator with 5–7 years of fundraising experience, including direct response, proposal writing, and donor engagement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and implement components of YWCA Banff’s Fund Development Plan

Participate and provide leadership in the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individuals, foundations, corporations and prospects

Lead direct response and annual giving campaigns, ensuring clear calls-to-action and brand alignment

Analyze, interpret, and implement donor prospect research and analysis

Build authentic, meaningful relationships with key supporters by leading with trust, empathy and an unwavering commitment to YWCA Banff’s mission and values

Prioritize efforts to create exceptional donor experiences throughout the donor life cycle through impactful communications and personalized connections

Represent YWCA Banff with donors, prospects, and sponsors, and at events

Prepare and deliver proposals, presentations, and other donor-centric communications materials

Manage the implementation of appropriate donor recognition and stewardship strategies, policies, and procedures
LEAD COMPETENCIES:

Exceptional track record in developing, managing, and implementing successful donor stewardship programs and fundraising campaigns

Strategic and innovative thinker with a talent for identifying and implementing approaches that engage and motivate supporters

Experience in face-to-face donor solicitation

Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders; ability to deal with senior-level business and community leaders, government, donors, and volunteers

Proven organizational, project management and analytical skills with the ability to deliver results

Committed to the value of data analytics as a driver of success

Familiarity with major and lead gift

Experience with capital or comprehensive campaigns would be an asset
QUALIFICATIONS:

Post-secondary education in a relevant field (Business, Non-Profit Management, Marketing and Communications, or similar)

A minimum 5-7 years' experience in non-profit fund development or equivalent in another sector

CFRE designation achieved or working towards is preferred
-
Practices ethical fundraising principles such as transparency, accountability, respect, integrity, and reputation

Experience with fundraising databases

Fluent in CRA (Canada Revenue Agency) regulations
Working at YWCA Banff
The Senior Development Officer is a full-time, year-round position. The successful candidate will be required, from time to time, to work evenings and weekends. Flexibility and work-from-home options are part of the culture at YWCA Banff.
