Job Overview 

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Senior Manager works closely with other Senior Managers in a cross-functional and collaborative team environment. As a member of the Senior Management Team, this position is responsible for multiple programs within the organization and contributes to the organization’s overall administration through comprehensive staff and program support, financial management, strategic planning, contract compliance, and policy and procedure implementation.  

The Senior Manager supports the Management team to achieve operational success of the organization's programs and services, ensuring seamless fiscal and team management, initiative and project delivery, quality control, and evaluation. The Senior Manager works collaboratively to design, develop, action, and assess strategies that will enact the vision of the organization in alignment with AAISA's mission and vision. This position will manage the performance of a growing management staff team and is a key external stakeholder.  

 

Roles and Responsibilities 

Strategic Leadership 

  • Collaborate with the Senior Management Team to design and execute multiple programs and initiatives that advance AAISA’s mission and strategic objectives as outlined in AAISA’s current Strategic Plan. 
  • Engage with committees and sector stakeholders to ensure AAISA teams can track and identify systemic issues and priorities facing the settlement and integration sector and develop opportunities to collaboratively address them through existing and proposed programming. 
  • Forge and maintain strategic partnerships with wide-ranging stakeholders, including the private and public sectors to support the settlement and integration sector. 
  • Mentor direct reports in their professional and skill development while ensuring the Management Team provides similar support to their direct reports. 
  • Identify and create opportunities for cross-departmental collaboration within AAISA to efficiently meet sector needs and AAISA’s strategic priorities outlined in the Strategic Plan. 
  • Demonstrate exceptional communication skills through active listening, inclusive dialogue, and effective implementation of feedback including involving, respecting input and using it. 
  • Guide staff development by cultivating skills and competencies and delegates responsibilities aligned with role responsibilities.  

 

Performance Management and Quality Assurance  

  • Lead and work with the Management Team to create, implement, and update performance-based tools to establish consistent, objective performance standards of accountability relative to AAISA. 
  • Work with the Management Team to support the development of outcomes measurement, impact practice strategies, and models for AAISA ensuring organizational programs and projects are on track to meet their outcomes and objectives. 
  • Oversee and direct the planning, implementation, and evaluation of AAISA’s measurement and evaluation initiatives. 
  • Work with the management team to ensure evaluation and program information is consistent with funder reporting requirements. 
  • Oversee program reporting and financial tracking in coordination with the Senior Management team and Accountant. 
  • Maintain organizational compliance with agency policies and procedures in coordination with the Senior Management team. 

 

Administrative and Communication Support  

  • Collaborate with the Senior Management team on organizational budget development and management and human resources management. 
  • Lead the recruitment, selection, orientation and retention initiatives of program staff. 
  • Support the Management team in developing and maintaining comprehensive work plans and operational budgets. 
  • Spearhead the development of funding proposals, annual reports, and financial statements for various funders and partners. 
  • Support and guide the Management team in creating high-quality written and spoken materials for diverse audiences (i.e., briefs, reports, presentations, and publications). 
  • Serve as an organizational ambassador in government relations and public representation. 

 

Required Qualification 

Education 

  • Bachelors’ Degree required in Social Sciences, Community Development, Public Administration, or a related field 
  • Masters’ Degree considered an asset 

Experience  

  • Minimum 5+ years in a supervisory role 
  • Proven experience in corporate and/or community partnership  
  • Demonstrated success in government relations and communications 
  • Strong background in budgeting and strategic planning 
  • Experience working with diverse communities, including francophone and anglophone communities 
  • Proficiency with digital tools including: 
    • SurveyMonkey 
    • CRM systems 
    • Zoom 
    • Canva 
    • Microsoft Office suite, including Excel and SharePoint   
    • Non-profit sector experience considered an asset 

Knowledge 

  • Expertise in funding applications and grant management 
  • Understanding of gender equality; equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI); Gender-Based Analysis (GBA) Plus, and community development principles  
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the settlement sector, including a foundational knowledge of immigration pathways and relevant settlement services 
  • French language proficiency considered an asset
