The Team Lead, Helpline is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the twenty-four (24) hour Helpline team and Crisis Counselling. This position is responsible for the supervision of both weekday and weekend Helpline team.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Works collaboratively with the Manager, Outreach, Helpline and Court Program to identify gaps, client risk assessment and support day-to-day expectations of the crisis line in order to provide a safe, confidential, and supportive engagement to our clients.
  • Provides monthly formal supervision and support to the Helpline staff.
  • Works from a response-based practice framework (oral and written).
  • Approves timesheets, time off requests in payroll system.
  • Provides monthly updates to the Manager, Outreach, Helpline and Court Program.
  • Works collaboratively with the Shelter, Team Lead to provide a seamless experience for clients wanting to enter shelter as well as managing shared logistical tasks such as scheduling and relief meetings/supervision.
  • Works with the Manager, Outreach, Helpline and Court Program in assessing Helpline staff and completing probationary and annual performance reviews.
  • Provides support and guidance regarding noteworthy and critical incident reporting and follow-up.
  • Participates in the recruitment, selection, onboarding, and training of new hires.  
  • Works in conjunction with the Manager, Outreach, Helpline and Court Program to coordinate and facilitate regular team meetings.
  • Prepares and monitors staff schedules to ensure appropriate staff levels are met for safety and optimal service delivery.
  • Works in conjunction with the Manager, Outreach, Helpline and Court Program to maintain approved budgets for the Helpline program.
  • Ensures client and staff file documentation and program information are maintained in an accurate, timely, professional, and confidential manner, meeting accreditation standards.
  • Provides supervision and guidance to staff to ensure excellence in service delivery, ensuring clients needs are being met.
  • Provides guidance and direction around crisis de-escalation/intervention, assessment of client’s needs and implementation of strategic plans in collaboration with Helpline staff and clients.
  • Facilitates and supports a positive and collaborative relationship between Helpline staff, Shelter Services staff, staff from other departments, and volunteers.
  • Reviews and assesses the suitability of referrals to internal and external programming and extensions in stay.
  • Participates in Case Consults with the Manager, Outreach, Helpline and Court Program or Practice Advisor in a consistent and planful manner with shelter staff.
  • Ensure Compliance with Accreditation Standards; Maintain current police and IRC checks, professional registration (if applicable), and required accreditation-related training.
  • Other duties as assigned to support FearIsNotLove’s programs and clients.

WHAT YOU BRING TO OUR MISSION:

  • Degree or Diploma in Human Services
  • Minimum two (2) years’ previous supervisory experience
  • Familiarity with accreditation requirements required.
  • Minimum three (3) years’ previous experience in any of the following areas is required: domestic violence, Children’s Services, homelessness, or addictions/mental health issues.
  • Previous experience in counselling, program implementation, and evaluation is required.
  • Minimum two (2) years’ previous experience in a residential setting preferred.
  • Strong knowledge and linkage to external services and systems that is available to women experiencing family violence and abuse.
  • Knowledge of resources available with regards to men’s wellness.
  • Experience working with men in crisis considered an asset.
  • Understanding of the Response Based Approach and previous experience working within Scott Miller’s Feedback Informed Treatment is an asset.
  • If eligible for registration with a professional body, registration must be current.
