You’re an exceptional writer and editor who instinctively tailors content for different platforms and audiences. You understand the mechanics of a strong message—whether it’s a social post, a blog post, or a digital campaign—and you're fluent in the fast-moving language of social media. With a marketer’s mindset, you know how to draw attention to the things that matter: programs, services, events, and opportunities that help students succeed.

In this role, you'll help bring SAMRU’s student-focused mission to life by creating compelling, timely, and strategic content that connects students to their association—and each other.

Requirements:

The successful candidate should possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree (communications, marketing, public relations preferred);

  • 1+ years’ experience in marketing;

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills with a sharp eye for detail and accuracy;

  • A tactical mindset and marketing instinct to help promote programs, services, events, and opportunities that benefit students;

  • Proven experience creating compelling content across a range of platforms, including social media, websites, blogs, and print;

  • Fluency in social media—understanding platform strengths, features, limitations, and analytics;

  • A knack for storytelling that connects with students and reflects SAMRU’s voice;

  • Working knowledge of media relations and the ability to craft clear, newsworthy press releases;

  • Experience with tools such as content management systems, Google Analytics, and social analytics programs;

  • Visual communication skills—comfortable with graphic design, photography, and basic video editing;

  • Excellent time management and the ability to juggle competing priorities in a fast-paced environment;

  • Collaborative spirit, creativity, and a sense of humour.

This is a nine-month contract position with an annual salary based on an annual salary of $49,500. The successful candidate will work regular daytime hours at the office with some evening and weekend hours occasionally required.

The successful candidate will also enjoy a progressive 35-hour work week and a flextime policy that allows them to bank time during peak periods and “flex-off” during slow ones. They will earn 1.25 days of vacation each month. SAMRU observes 13.5 paid holidays per year and provides three additional paid days off between December 26 and January 1, when the campus is closed.
