Position Summary
Miskanawah is an Indigenous agency that draws jointly from the strengths and guidance of Indigenous teachings and traditions. We adopt evidence-based practices in human services to support vulnerable children, youth and families. Within Miskanawah we have our Tawaw – Family Resource Network, “Welcome we have made space for you”.The Caregiver Wellness Facilitator is a compassionate, proactive, and culturally responsive professional who provides intensive, relationship-based support to caregivers of children and youth (0–18) experiencing complex challenges that affect parenting capacity, family stability, and overall well-being.
Using a strengths-based, trauma-informed, and culturally grounded approach, the Facilitator partners with caregivers to strengthen parenting confidence, reduce social isolation, and foster connections to culture, community, and natural supports. Through individualized service planning, advocacy, system navigation, collaboration with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and community partners, the Facilitator promotes caregiver well-being, strengthens protective factors, and supports safe, healthy, and nurturing family environments where children can thrive.

Responsibilities
• Provide intensive, relationship-based case management to caregivers and families experiencing multiple and complex stressors.
• Complete comprehensive intake, assessment, goal setting, and individualized service planning using a strengths-based and trauma-informed approach.
• Support caregivers in improving emotional wellbeing, parenting confidence, coping skills, and strengthening protective factors.
• Help families build natural support networks, cultural supports and connect caregivers with internal programs, community resources, and specialized supports.
• Collaborate with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and cultural mentors to support caregiver healing and cultural identity.
• Maintain accurate documentation, service/goal plans, attendance records, case notes, and outcome tracking.
• Participate in case consultations, reflective supervision, and multidisciplinary meetings.
• Plan, coordinate, and facilitate caregiver support groups, parenting programs, workshops, and caregiver learning opportunities.
• Deliver evidence-informed and culturally responsive programming that strengthens caregiver resilience and family well-being.
• Integrate Indigenous teachings, culture, and traditional ways of knowing into programming where appropriate.
Skills & Experience
• Strong knowledge of child development, family systems, positive parenting, mental health, intergenerational trauma, child maltreatment prevention, family violence, risk assessment, and safety planning.
• Demonstrated understanding of trauma-informed, holistic approach, strengths-based, and culturally responsive practice, including Indigenous worldviews, cultural safety, cultural humility, and the impacts of colonization on Indigenous families.
• Skilled in caregiver coaching, motivational interviewing, advocacy, crisis response, systems navigation, case management, and connecting families with community resources.
• Excellent facilitation, communication, relationship-building, documentation, organizational, and time management skills.
• Nurturing Parenting Program or similar parenting education training is an asset.

Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Social Work, Human Services, Child & Youth Care, Psychology, Early Childhood Education, Family Studies, or a related discipline. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Minimum three years of experience supporting caregivers, families, or children in community-based settings.
• Experience facilitating groups and providing one-to-one support.
• Experience working with Indigenous children, families, and communities is considered an asset.
• Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence and access to reliable transportation.
• Successful Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
• Ability to travel throughout Calgary and surrounding communities.
• Ability to participate in community events, cultural activities, land-based programming, and ceremonies.
• Ability to lift and transport program supplies and equipment (up to 25 lbs.).
• Commitment to continuous learning and willingness to participate in Indigenous cultural teachings, ceremonies, and professional development opportunities.
