Position Overview

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Volunteer Resources Coordinator to join our team at Inn from the Cold. The Coordinator, Volunteer Resources will be responsible for the recruitment, screening, selection, training, motivation and evaluation of volunteers. This role is responsible for the development and execution of the volunteer programs.

 

 What You’ll Do

  • Promote volunteer opportunities to the public
  • Recruitment, screening, selection, training, scheduling, motivation, and evaluation of volunteers
  • Computer data entry, record keeping, maintains a variety of statistical and departmental records using Better Impact. Must have intermediate experience in MS office programs
  • Ensure all volunteers who work with children have cleared police checks
  • Designing and conducting training and orientation programs for volunteers
  •  Establish and conduct screening interviews with potential volunteers and their supervisor
  • Provide basic orientation and on-going support to all volunteers
  • Communicate with volunteers to ensure a positive experience for both volunteer and the organization
  • Represent the Inn at Volunteer fairs, conduct shelter tours, deliver Lunch and Learns and other speaking engagements at external venues
  • Meet with Fund Development Team to provide relevant updates, participate in post event evaluation for major events of Inn from the Cold
  • Update database, volunteer job descriptions, and volunteer manual as required

  • Post-secondary degree/diploma in volunteer Management or a related field
  • Experience in a volunteer coordination capacity preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills and have ability to work independently and/or as part of a team.
  • Strong written and verbal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and efficiently.
  • Must provide clear RCMP or police security clearance.
  • Politically and culturally sensitive.
  • High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Must have intermediate experience in MS office programs
  • Ability to develop recruitment and selection procedures
  • Proven ability to supervise, motivate, train and monitor the performance of a team of volunteers.
  • Ability to communicate in a friendly and informative manner with people from a wide variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds and lifestyles.
  • Ability to work independently and possess strong time management skills
  • Ability to supervise and train employees, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
  • Solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.
  • Good training, coaching, and mentoring skills are essential
  • Complete all required INN training as assigned such as: Indigenous Awareness, FOIP, etc.
