For over 20 years, Calgary Counselling Centre has been a leader in mental health services in Alberta providing high quality, evidence-based counselling grounded in feedback informed treatment, research and continuous learning. We offer a full continuum of care including individual, couple, family and group counselling, and play an active role in training and mentoring clinicians at the masters and Post Graduate levels. Our well-established programs focused on depression, anxiety, trauma, family violence and youth mental health. We are a hub of innovation and collaboration, working with expert trainers and consultants from around the world to strengthen mental health service delivery and improve outcomes for the communities we serve.
We are seeking an experienced male counsellor to provide court-mandated individual and group counselling in our Family Violence Program.
In family violence groups, the male counsellors work as part of a male and female co-facilitation teams and play an important role in helping participants develop insight, accountability, healthier relationship skills, and strategies for lasting change.
This opportunity is ideal for clinicians with strong individual counselling and group facilitation skills who are passionate about supporting safer families and healthier communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual counselling to individuals referred to the family violence program
- Co-facilitate court-mandated family violence prevention groups
- Create a respectful, accountable, and supportive group environment
- Support participants in reducing Intimate Partner Violence while at the same time, developing healthier communication and relationship skills
- Maintain professional documentation and program standards
- Collaborate with co-facilitators and program staff
- Participate fully in training, supervision, and ongoing professional development
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in counselling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field
- Eligibility for registration with a relevant professional regulatory body in Alberta (CAP or ACSW).
- Experience facilitating groups or working within group process
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict management skills
- Understanding of family violence dynamics, trauma-informed practice, and/or offender intervention approaches is considered an asset
- Experience working with diverse populations is an asset
This is a full-time, permanent position. Compensation is competitive within the Calgary market and reflective of skills and experience.
