The Radiance Children’s Centre is Canada’s first licensed full-time facility of its kind. It stands at the forefront of breaking the cycle of violence by addressing the unique needs of children exposed to family violence.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The Director of Programs is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), responsible to provide strategic leadership and oversight to the implementation of programs and strategies supporting families experiencing domestic violence. The role works collaboratively with employees, funders, and partners to develop and implement innovative approaches to ending family violence. This position oversees all aspects of client service delivery and evaluation, ensures a high standard of quality programming, and incorporates emerging and innovative research and practice into our work.

WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR…

  • Participates as an active member of the Director and broader organizational leadership team.
  • Provides leadership and support to the Programs Team, including the Radiance Centre Shelter, Radiance Children’s Centre, and Radiance Family Day Homes.
  • Directs, plans, and coordinates the work of the Program Supervisory Team, including supervision and evaluation, training, day to day support and team building.
  • Regularly conduct risk assessments and report on approaches to mitigate risks.
  • Fosters a healthy and safe, team oriented, supportive, and accountable work environment.
  • Supports the mission of the organization and creates impact through effective recruitment, onboarding, training, performance evaluation, supervision, and communication of job expectations of staff.
  • Ensures guidelines, resources, policies, and procedures for program delivery are operating effectively.
  • Actively facilitates strategic planning and business planning for programmatic areas of the organization.
  • Establishes work plans to ensure achievement of outputs and outcomes, and standards of practice.
  • Effectively aligns client service programs and staff support and functions with the agency’s long-term strategic plan and annual business plan.
  • Prioritizes the development of programming and strategies to support diverse populations, with a particular emphasis on Indigenous peoples.
  • Ensures all program activities are consistent with agency and funder objectives and that objectives can be met with available resources.
  • Leads development and implementation of evidence-based and promising practice into programs.
  • Builds relationships with key external stakeholder groups and community partners to strengthen the reputation of the organization and streamline access to services for clients.
  • Supports with the writing of grant applications for core funding agreements and maintains relations with funders.
  • Ensures submission of all monthly, quarterly, and annual program reports to funders.
  • Leads the development, revision and implementation of appropriate evaluation frameworks including logic models, theories of change and other evaluation components for all programs.
  • Facilitates an environment of learning, evaluation, innovation, and storytelling.
  • Captures and analyzes data including outputs and outcomes, recognizing trends and adapts programming.
  • Leads ongoing program development and design ensuring input from staff, clients, people with lived experience, and Indigenous voices.
  • Uses data and evidence-based practice to establish and implement programmatic goals.
  • Establishes and maintains partnerships with research and educational institutions to create opportunities for research, program pilots and innovative practice to address the impacts of trauma on families.
  • Develops and manages the program budgets in collaboration with Team Leads and Executive Director.
  • Other duties as assigned by Executive Director.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS…

  • Master of Social Work or related graduate degree preferred; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • A minimum of 5 years of program leadership experience and a minimum of 5 years of frontline service delivery in counselling or case management required.
  • Experience leading, inspiring, and building effective teams to achieve organizational priorities.
  • Well-versed in best practices in social innovation, design thinking and community development.
  • Proven experience in development and implementation of cutting-edge programming.
  • Significant experience in program evaluation and reporting.
  • Understanding of the range of intersectional issues related to family violence such as homelessness, homophobia, poverty, racism, colonization, and intergenerational trauma, etc.
  • Understanding of a range of approaches to meet client needs such as case management, trauma-informed practice, housing first, crisis intervention, and harm reduction.
  • Experience with multi-agency collaborative service delivery would be considered an asset.
  • Strong inspirational leadership, organizational, and assessment skills.
  • Skilled in file auditing, case management and supervision of employees.
  • Excellent communication and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the impact of family violence on children.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle required.
  • Proven skills to work with vulnerable population are required.

  • This position participates in an on-call rotation and may work occasional evening/weekend hours.
