Description

Centre for Sexuality (C4S) is a community-based organization that provides access to non-judgmental sexual and reproductive health services and support. We are hiring one amazing facilitator to join our motivated team with a mission to normalize sexual health in Alberta.
 
The Girls Program is a participatory school-based program developed by the Centre for Sexuality for pre-pubescent and early pubescent girls. The program is designed to build foundational sexual health knowledge, social-emotional skills, and capacities necessary to overcome girl-specific challenges to achieve current and future well-being.

As our successful candidate you will:

  • Implement and facilitate the Girls Program and Natural Supports/Parent curriculums to program fidelity in school and community-based settings with girls in Grades 4-6. 
  • Maintain positive and mutually beneficial relationships with school sites. 
  • Complete program administration, including preparing session content, and learning aids such as printed materials, PowerPoints and other supplementary materials.  
  • Support end-of-year celebration event planning, logistics and material preparation.
  •  Create safer learning environments, online and in-person, for youth to participate in transformational learning experiences. 
  • Remain up to date with, and employ, best and promising practices in pedagogy, social-emotional learning, sexual health promotion, gender equity, and healthy relationship education. 
  • Participate as an active member of the Gender Specific Programs team to ensure curriculum content is up-to-date and relevant to the needs of the youth we serve. 
  • Participate in program evaluations and reporting by collecting, entering, and analyzing program data and outcomes. 
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with community partners for seamless referrals. 
  • Actively participate in agency and community collaborations, initiatives, and activities. 
  • Participate in regular performance development planning and review. 
  • Participate in the creation of program promotional material including posters, brochures, and other types of print and online media. 
  • Follow policy and procedures regarding tracking time worked, requesting and scheduling time off, requesting program supplies, claiming expenses, and requesting and participating in professional development opportunities. 

Qualifications and Attributes:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in child and youth studies, education, public health, or social work, and/or a minimum of 2 years of related work experience.
  • Strong group facilitation experience with children and youth.
  • Knowledge of and/or experience facilitating core topics related to the Girls Program curriculum.
  • Demonstrated experience with community engagement values and practice.
  • Knowledge of community resources and ability to make appropriate referrals.
  • Commitment to organizational values: Social Justice/Feminism, Prevention, Collaboration and Curiosity.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the Natural Supports framework.
  • Commitment to youth engagement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective conflict resolution, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstration of empathy and compassion.
  • Demonstration of curiosity and commitment to lifelong learning.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, in a fast-pace, open-space work environment.
  • Ability to facilitate effectively in a virtual setting including operating various online delivery platforms.

Additional details:

This is a full-time permanent position working 35 hours per week and will include frequent travel in all seasons within the city and surrounding areas, therefore you must have a reliable vehicle and appropriate insurance and be comfortable driving in different winter conditions. Being available to work some evenings and weekends as required.

The successful candidate must be able to provide a police information record check with vulnerable sector search and has valid First Aid, Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) and CPR certifications (or willingness to become certified). 
The position is based at our Calgary Office and reports directly to the Team Lead of Gender-Specific Programs. The salary range for the position is $54,000-$60,000 annually with a comprehensive benefit package and an excellent work environment.
