Manager Communications & Marketing
Full-Time Position – 37.5 hours per week

SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Manager Communications & Marketing will oversee CIWA’s communication strategies, marketing campaigns, fundraising campaigns, and public engagement initiatives. The Manager plays a pivotal role in enhancing CIWA’s visibility through storytelling and building relationships with community stakeholders. This position combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution to ensure consistency in branding and alignment with CIWA’s mission.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Communications and Marketing
- Develop and implement innovative internal and external communication strategies to promote CIWA’s programs and services.
- Create and oversee the development of content to generate compelling marketing materials such as brochures, newsletters, social media content, blogs, and press releases.
- Manage website updates and ensure timely publication of relevant content.
- Ensure brand consistency across all communication channels.
- Act as the primary contact for media inquiries and coordinate media relations.
Marketing and Campaign management
- Oversee marketing and fundraising campaigns including relationship with vendors, external partners, agencies, donors, corporations and sponsors.
- Build and maintain relationships with donors, corporate partners, government agencies, and community partners to support CIWA’s revenue generation goals.
- Maintain database of partners and oversee donation platform.
- Plan and execute a range of fundraising events, from large-scale galas to smaller donor appreciation initiatives, ensuring impactful engagement and successful outcomes.
- Monitor communications, marketing and campaign metrics and prepare reports for senior leadership.
Public Engagement
- Oversee planning of outreach, community and public engagement initiatives to raise awareness about CIWA or to engage partners in support of our mission
- Lead public engagement initiatives to foster strong relationships with community members and stakeholders.
- Organize open houses, tours, or public events to showcase CIWA’s programs and impact.
Leadership and Collaboration
- Supervise a small team of communications staff, volunteers, and/or contractors.
- Work closely with the DCSR to align strategies with organizational goals.
- Provide training on communications tools or platforms as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS
- A bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, business administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- At least 5 years of experience in communications, marketing, fundraising, or development roles within a nonprofit or social profit organization.
AREAS of EXPERTISE
- Proven success in donor cultivation, grant writing, or executing high-impact fundraising campaigns.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to craft compelling messages for diverse audiences. Ability to develop and execute integrated communication and marketing plans aligned with organizational goals.
- Experience maintaining and enhancing brand identity and messaging across platforms.
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills for various channels (web, social media, print, press releases, etc.).
- Experience leading cross-functional teams, mentoring staff, managing external vendors or agencies.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in digital tools such as WordPress, social media platforms, email marketing tools (e.g., Mailchimp), and donor management software (e.g., Salesforce).
- Experience building relationships with media outlets and managing press coverage, interviews, and crisis communications.
- Ability to respond to changing priorities or communications needs quickly and effectively.
- Strategic thinker with excellent analytical skills for tracking campaign performance metrics.
