*This is a Temporary Role for an 8 Week Period as part of the Canada Summer Jobs Program. Anticipated start date, June 15th*

The Canada Summer Jobs program is a program under the Youth Employment and Skills Strategy (YESS). It helps youth gain paid summer work experience and develop skills for the job market. The following criteria must be met in order to be eligible:

  • 18 – 30 years of age
  • Not currently employed with the Children’s Cottage Society
  • Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN). Persons with a Work or Study Permit are not eligible
  • International students are not eligible
  • Possess a valid Child Intervention Check (no more than 6 months old) or is eligible to receive one.
  • Possess a valid Police Check with a Vulnerable Sector Check (no more than 6 months old) or is eligible to receive one.
  • Currently residing in Calgary or surrounding area
  • Available for 8 weeks (35 hours per week) up to August 31, 2026

Hours/Salary: This role will work a 35-hour work week, Monday through Friday. The salary will be $20.00 per hour. This role will require scheduled evening and weekend availability for events, with adjusted time off during the week

WORK LOCATION:  Child and Family Centre – 1804 Home Road NW T3B 1H1

Qualifications / Skills:

  • Access to a vehicle and a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs
  • Comfortable, and confident in public-facing environments
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Comfortable using Canva for basic design and content creation

Work Duties:

  • Prepare for and attend community events, fairs, festivals, and trade shows on behalf of Children’s Cottage Society with goals of raising funds and awareness for Children's Cottage, by representing us, and engaging with the public
  • Lead the organizations summer awareness campaign including pre-event preparations, setup and takedown, volunteer scheduling & support, as well as ensuring there is a strong site design and brand adherence across all materials and displays
  • Ensure event activations have clear messaging and call to action – aligned with Marketing & Fund Development goals
  • Work closely with the Marketing & Communications team to implement event processes and branding standards
  • Assist the Marketing department with content creation, including social media and campaign support
  • Provide general support to Marketing & Fund Development projects and initiatives
  • Lend support to other departments with general duties when available

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
