Position Summary
Miskanawah is an Indigenous agency that draws jointly from the strengths and guidance of Indigenous teachings and traditions. We adopt evidence-based practices in human services to support vulnerable children, youth and families. The Team Lead – Youth Development & Resiliency provides leadership, supervision, and operational oversight for the Youth Development & Resiliency Spoke. This role supports the delivery of culturally responsive, relationship-based, and strengths-focused services that promote resilience, cultural identity, leadership, and overall well-being for Indigenous youth (12–24 years). The Team Lead provides coaching and mentorship to staff, oversees service quality, supports complex youth needs, and fosters strong relationships with youth, families, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, schools, and community partners. This position requires flexibility to work days, evenings, weekends, and occasional statutory holidays to support youth programming, cultural activities, ceremonies, and community events.

Responsibilities
• Provide day-to-day leadership, supervision, coaching, and mentorship to Youth Support Coordinators.
• Foster a collaborative, positive, and culturally responsive team environment.
• Support staff development through reflective supervision, performance feedback, and professional development.
• Promote best practices in trauma-informed, strengths-based, and relationship-centred service delivery.
• Oversee the planning, coordination, and delivery of universal and intensive youth programming.
• Ensure programming is engaging, developmentally appropriate, culturally responsive, and aligned with organizational priorities.
• Support land-based learning, cultural programming, ceremonies, leadership opportunities, and community events.
• Monitor program quality and continuously identify opportunities for improvement.
• Provide consultation and guidance for youth with complex needs.
• Review referrals, prioritize service delivery, and monitor staff caseloads.
• Support collaborative service planning with youth, families, schools, and community partners.
• Promote positive youth development, resilience, leadership, identity, and community connection.
• Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with schools, community organizations, health providers, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and partner agencies.
• Represent the organization at meetings, community initiatives, and partnership opportunities.
• Ensure accurate documentation, reporting, and outcome measurement.
• Monitor program statistics and service delivery data.
• Support quality improvement initiatives and funding reporting requirements.
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold organizational policies and professional standards.
Skills and Experience
• Strong understanding of adolescent development, positive youth development, and trauma-informed practice.
• Knowledge of Indigenous cultural teachings, youth engagement, and culturally responsive approaches.
• Strong leadership, coaching, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, organization, and relationship-building abilities.
• Ability to manage competing priorities while supporting staff and youth.

Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Child & Youth Care, Human Services, Psychology, Education, Indigenous Studies, or a related discipline. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Minimum five years of experience working with youth in community-based settings.
• Minimum two years of leadership or supervisory experience.
• Experience working with Indigenous youth, families, and communities is preferred.
• Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence and access to reliable transportation.
• Successful Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
• Ability to travel throughout Calgary and surrounding communities.
• Flexibility to work days, evenings, weekends, and occasional statutory holidays.
• Participation in community events, land-based programming, cultural activities, and ceremonies.
• Commitment to continuous learning and participation in Indigenous cultural teachings and professional development.
